28 carb tops

Rare, expensive, desirable for show, but were a factory defect removed whenever Honda could. Change my mind. L0L!

Not sure about that but the very first gas tanks were kind of a defect as there was not enough clearance for the carbs. Think they went to a two dimple tank and then finally settled in on the 4 dimple to get more clearance for the carb tops. No dimple tanks hold a smidgen more gas  ;)
As I type I can hear my generator roaring away. No power for me in Michigan tonight - lost it at 8:30am. Maybe I should go to the pissed of thread  ;D ;D

I heard about outages south but not Michigan. My son in law is a lineman, was with us in St Louis when the storms went through. He showed me a cell phone map of outages. There were a lot, he expects to go right to work as soon as he's home.

Can your generator power the whole house? It turns on automatically? Does it run on propane or gas?

I wish I had a Generac or the type the comes on automatically.Mine is a Coleman 9375 which I run the house through a dryer outlet. Can do most of the house but burns gas like my Ford F250 !  :D  Power restored at 9:30 this morning.

Be sure to turn off the main breaker whenever back feeding a generator to protect linemen from backfed voltage.

The throttle cable was changed at vin #17630, late December 1969.
In April 1970 Honda sent a recall letter to the owners of these bikes saying the cable and springs were defective and could cause stuck throttle.
The parts and install were free and thousands of bikes were returned to the dealer for installation of throttle cables, carb tops, springs and slides.
Dealers threw thousands of these "rare" parts in the trash where they belonged.
I have owned four bikes in this range, all four received the updated parts.
I ride my bikes and don't want throttle cables sticking.
I would probably replace these parts in any arrived in my garage.
Ford installed a differential shield on the differential to prevent gas tanks being ripped open.
Chevrolet installed gas tank shields on side mounted gas tanks to prevent gas tanks being ripped open.

Always a good idea unless you to power the whole neighborhood.

Is the flaw something that can be altered, or is the design totally different? Wall art for sure. If you have the only one left in the known universe mount it behind glass with a copy of the recall.... If you're bored enough.

Honda made new ones that didn't stick, they were frugal then, as now. I'm just amused by the coveting of these defective parts. Cool to have on a museum piece, I guess. I prefer the three dots indicating the recall had been done, but that's just me.

Yeah, I'm not hung up on the 28 tops as well. Not important and I trust the engineering.  They recalled it for a safety reason unlike the round oil filter cover which I have as well.
