In the shop today, reviewing projects and “making a list”.
1. Finish the little Z50 engine. Down to the bare cases to repair kick starter spring.
2. “Winterize” the K1 and K3. Get the old fuel out of the float bowls and isolate the petcocks. Batteries disconnected and charge them up. Keep it simple.
3. Rickman CR750. Get all the brackets for road equipment brazed back on. Key switch, turnsignals, battery box, side stand, airbox, just to name a few...... clean and polish the frame and find a shop that can bright nickel plate the whole thing?
4. Sand Cast: Get the front end and freshly chromed front rim built, back on the bike and clamp it onto a work table. Engine on the stand and strip for top end rebuild.....
5 2008 KLR650. Roll it into the shop. Winterize, change the front fork oil. Engine oil and filter. Fresh brake fluid, both ends. Check the chain and both sprockets. This bike seems to eat them on a regular basis. I do ride it most. This will be the third set...... Delaying, hoping for a December ride?
Christmas is coming fast and looks to me like we are headed for another “lock down”. I turned on the under floor heat, last week. The hot water tank has extra insulation (zipped on an old sleeping bag) so I leave it on 24/7. The circulating pump is on a thermostat, and has a 24 hour timer override. It can only run from midnight to 6:00 am. This ensures the system only draws power at off peak hours (cheapest hydro rates). This morning, the shop was +50 degrees F. I am ready.
