Help identifying gauge models
« on: December 15, 2021, 09:22:01 PM »
I am having trouble identifying the part number for these gauges.

They are attached to my 550k from 1976, but when i look at the part numbers they all show up in different color combos, like a different shade of green, or red triangular redline area instead of white.

I am confused, are the ones on my motorcycle from a different year, or is there something i am missing?

These are the nippon seiki ones in case that matters.

Your red triangle has faded possibly the faces too, those gauges can also be repaired.

The gauge faces are in excellent condition, unlikely they faded, i have seen similar(slightly different faces before while searching).

How do i repair the gauges, i have searched in usa, couldnt find any decent ones, the one i found wants 400$ for repair

If you have pointers, pleaae let me know.

the green usually does not fade, but the red almost always does. the "white" redline area was originally red on all of them.
you can get parts to repair/restore them here: https://www.cb750faces.com/en/

I have heard about them, but do they simply restore faces or do they also repair the broken clocks?

you can read there, or otherwise ask them. i guess it depends on the type of repair that's needed.

the parts page you are using is for 1977-78 .  Gauges from different years can fit, but faceplate colors are different, but if it doesn't matter to you, use what you want. However, 1976 face plate color is light green.

Marcel [750faces] can also repair your gauge. But he is in Europe and shipping is very expensive.
You'd be better off finding a good used set. I have a similar spare set but they are ND.

If you want to keep the stock gauges then Marcel is the answer, I’ve used them twice, perfect work. Yes, pricey. If you are not concerned about stock gauges get a used set or reproduction set from Yamiya or David Silver Spares or cmsnl

Just to add my 2cents

CB750gages did a great job on my 550K1, and 750K6.
Good Warranty support, even though it turned out to not be their fault.

I tell my wife the motorcycles are an investment...

CB750K6: 1976

a honda tach faceplate with a marcel's faceplate below it. There are minor subtle differences, most wouldn't care about

Yep, that has been my experience as well. I could not find a tach anywhere. The speedos are available almost in every place

So this red section fades away as badly as mine to almost white? Jesus, almost unbelievable, given that moat honda parts survive the test of time!

If you decide to get a good used OEM set, I have one with Nippon Seiki Japan on the faces.

And a +1 for CB750 FACES.  Marcel has done two sets of gauges for me, and the results were exceptional.  Yes, it would take a while and be costly, but worth it.
