It’s been brought up before. I’ve found 2 particular posts on it:

Definitely wasn’t on my priority list, but recently I’ve been diving into the small things. Having one universal key for this bike is something that was on my radar for the past couple years. And every now and again I would do a quick search online to see if there was an original matching set out there. I wound up purchasing a set that was not described particularly well and only had two out of three the same; I didn’t pay that much money, so I just kept them for parts. Recently I did a search and on eBay, Found that Mr. monkey claw had a complete set with all matching core numbers. Great, it was like 75 bucks, figured I would treat myself and be done with it. But when it arrived I noticed that the seat lock was tampered with and even though all the core numbers were the same, somebody had made it so that anything could open the seat lock and the key could be removed from the cylinder regardless of the position. So now I’ll cut to the chase…
It’s not really rocket science and it turned out to be not that difficult at all; and who knows maybe I was a little lucky as well because I didn’t need to grind anything down. I just opened everything up and removed the small brass tab that was hiding the springs and pins within the tumbler core. (Only the new core didn’t have everything in there. This is where someone altered it so that anything could open it. It only had one spring sitting in there and no pins. So I opened up the other Previously purchased seat cylinder and robbed it of it’s springs and pins). Just like the write up in the second post that I referenced above, there are three rounded pins of different heights that touch the key, three square ended short pins that sit on top of the rounded ones and under three springs. Rearranged them In the order that seemed to match my key cut…and voilà!… I have a completely matching lock set! Made me happy. And anyone looking to attempt this, it can be done. Cheers!
