ARD part numbers
« on: March 01, 2007, 08:36:25 PM »
for all that has the ARD ignition systems with points
I think there are only 3 of us..........:) Rich, Terry and my self
and I already sent them e-mails of this but for everyone else
enjoy and I hope this helps

Hey guys

Just got the break down on the invoice from bill Lopoulos Magneto parts
Here are the part numbers for the Fairbanks mores system

Coil        A2477C
Condenser       SXY2433
Rotor        M2765
Gasket set            GK17
Points             A2437A
Cap               G800

Everything but the points was replaced and the bearings where re-packed
This type of mag has the single ball type bearings or 3 piece type bearings
you have a inter/outer race with a cage system to hold the bearings
the magnets where checked and are in really good shape
As far as the type of mag system, He said he has never seen one like this
but thought it was originally for a Wisconsin engine of some type but said
it was
a very rare type. He doesn't have the housings that he thought he did. His
suggestion as far as timing was to run about 35 degrees
of advance and that should help with starting and run fine up top
all this plus labor was $175.00 US

As mentioned in the other long thread, Joe Hunt has the CNC machined housings that use the FM internals -

http://www.huntmagnetos.com/motorstore.php

MAGNETO PARTS & ACCESSORIES     100     BILLET ALUMINUM HOUSING     $178.00

Steve Belanger at MainelyMagnetos.com did my ARD/FM mag rebuild; just got off the phone with him, mine ran $160. Steve said he may be able to find some housings; he thinks the old base-mount mags used the same mounting bolt pattern ARD used.

I requested a parts breakdown; hopefully it will match what Bill gave Jim...   ;D

Steve is going to try to build up an ARD mag "clone" for me...using all new parts...  ::)

...Stock 1972 CL450 'Scrambler' also being re-assembled...

Jim,
Thanks for the old info.  I am running an ARD setup on my CB750 and the info was great.

I have an, as pulled 4 cylinder FM mag off an International.

 That may work..

I have a FM, ready to go on a custom built plate and drive for a 750

In my hands right now I have a NOS WICO top for a 4 cyl mag, so there is another  possiblity..

The Hunt custom BILLET housing sounds tasty, wish they would re-introduce their old 754 drive cover..

I was under the impression that the points type mag was a Fairbanks Morse from a Ford tractor. ARD only made the drive.
