We had to put a new clutch in the GS 1100E. I've had it out since then and this bike is a blast to ride. The other day I was coming out of the corner onto the last straight before my road. When I got on the throttle on the straight I hit about 5k rpm's in 3rd and spun the rear tire for at least 100'. I love riding this bike. ;D

Well we put a new clutch kit with springs in it and I think that the supposedly 10% stronger EBC clutch springs aren't as strong as they claim. I can spin the clutch in 2nd and 3rd from around 4k rpm.
I had forgot that I went through the same thing on the 84' Sabre 700. I put in an EBC clutch kit and I ended up replacing the springs with Barnett heavy duty springs and problem solved. I'll get Paul to order some Barnett springs for the GS 1100E.
Otherwise I'm having a great time with the bike 8)

Kelly,were your steel clutch plates in very good condition? if not,I'm sure that engine will spin them  :D

The steels were in great shape, no sign of bluing or getting hot. The new EBC springs didn't really feel stronger than the stock ones but we installed them. It was 2017 when I had the issue with the Sabre clutch and I had forgotten about it.
Luckily we can pull the clutch cover with the bike on the side stand and the oil doesn't run out. ;D

Yep, real easy to hit 100mph. 8)
Mine hits 124mph in exactly 6 seconds while it wheelies the whole time  ;D
