Cb500 "winker" issues
« on: December 25, 2021, 08:46:38 AM »
I have the whole bike wired up and all the lights work but I cannot get the signals to flash. There are three wires leading to the winker: grey black and green. The wiring diagram shows the black and grey connected to a 2 prong winker and the green loose. The bike had a 3 pole winker when I got it and I don't know if it worked then because the bike was disassembled. The winker has three poles labelled L, BI+, and -IE. I don't know which goes where. Can anyone help? One other thing, the left hand switch has 1 orange, 1 light blue, 1 light green, and 2 grey wires going to the headlight case. I've connected everything but the second gray wire which doesn't show up on the wiring diagram. Could that be the problem? I have good continuity to the 3 wires at the winker location. The LH switch looks like it is stock? The lights all work and but the blinkers don't blink. I do not have any LED bulbs. I have a brand new 3 prong and a new 2 prong winker that work with a test light and fully charges battery.

Run the loose green to a clean ground and you should be good.

I will try that. So does the grey wire go to the + or the - on the 2 pronged winker?

Or does it even make a difference?

Winkers frequently dont flash unless the engine is running, use the 2 prong unit and leave the green wire loose it does not need to be grounded.
On the lh switch there should not be 2 greys leads, the grey in the loom needs to connect to the grey into the switch that goes to winker switch, light blue and orange are out puts from switch to appropriate side of bike for winkers, light green is horn

Try flipping the Black and Grey wires.

Black is power into the flasher and Grey is power out to the left bar switch for the turn signals.
