steady miss cylinder 1
« on: December 28, 2021, 08:13:49 PM »
got a steady miss at cylinder 1 on this cb350f.  valve lash is correct, compression is a little north of 100psi which is about the same as cylinders 2-4, has a good hot spark.  haven't soaked the carbs but did at least pull the jets and check and clean them.  still a steady miss at cylinder 1.  Was going to try shooting starter fluid into the intake of carb 1 while running to see if miss disappears momentarily.

Any helpful advice is appreciated.

Swap or replace spark plugs?
At least look at the tips for combustion conditions.

+1. Snip a bit off the end of the plug wire and reattach the cap. Replace the cap, or swap it around and see if the miss moves with it?

Do 1 and 4 fire off the same coil, in a wasted spark like the 750? I don't remember, but if so, swap the wires. See if the problem moves. If it does, then there is a problem with the wire/coil. If not, then you have a plug or fuel issue, most likely.

If the starting fluid picked the cylinder up that would indicate lack of fuel, if the plug is regularly wet, that is a gas fouled plug. The smaller motors have even smaller jets that plug up easier, I'd check the pilot jet on that cylinder.
Has it been running well or is this a get it running project?

Does the exhaust pipe get hot at startup? Should heat up at the same rate as the other exhaust.
