Woohoo! I'll be looking forward to it mate, it'll be great. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

A 100 mile loop south out of Metro Phoenix and around the Gila River Indian reservation.  The K5 is not ready for prime time and I have sold a handful of motorcycles that could’ve been good candidates for a putt.

This one will be buried with me.

Cheers to Frank.

Desert refugee, nice VMax...weather has been nice of late, that changed today...cooling off today with high winds yesterday and last night. Should warm back up tomorrow , nice riding in peak warmth...or cooler daytime rides layered up for the wind chill.

BenelliSEI, beautiful shot, that looks like a great house and should have nice view from the hill. What breed is your dog? Nice looking dog...I like large dogs, tend to dislike the small dogs...I prefer cats.

I was going to take a ride this afternoon for an appointment but their office closed for COVID-19 case, so my appointment is via phonecall now...
May take bike for short ride after the appointment.

Beautiful picture. Just dawned on me living in Brisbane Australia.
I wouldn't even have one set of clothes that would keep me warm there.

Clear skies and 55 farenheit in the heartland.
Not a bad day for a ride.
The southerly winds were blowing pretty strong.
The windmills had to turn the rotors in to keep from over rev.

Our equivalent to winter is the opposite where the temps are over 100 or 105 or 110 and overnight temps don't go below 80 or 75 at the lowest and it is 90f before 10AM.  So, we have a period where riding is dangerous due to heat because once you pass 95F you won't cool down any from riding but your body temp will actually get hotter or the effective temp is higher.

Spotty, you saying you need a new rear tire or that desert refugee will need one after 100 miles?

My Aerostich jacket makes it possible to ride comfortably in triple digit temps.  Unzipping the armpit vents coupled with saturating my t-shirt makes for a great cooling effect.  It lasts for about a half an hour in 100+ temps before I have to re-soak the shirt.  The cooling effect is even better with my mesh jacket, but the shirt dries out faster.

The water soaked cooling shirt trick was a great tip i received in phx.
Did all my desert endurance rides with soaking wet thermal base gear.  Would go to the bathroom at every stop and rehydrate.

One time, I just stepped in the truckstop shower and turned the tap on.  It was like 110 degrees that day.  Everything was bone dry by the next stop.

I bought a MC cooling vest and soaked with cool water it too is only good for about 30 minutes in temps of 100 and higher.
I have mistakenly ridden an hour in 100 to 105 before I got back home... I knew the heat was getting to me but until I dismounted the bike I didn't realize how bad I was.
I was weak in the knees and the heat after I got off the bike I quickly stripped off my jacket and helmet and went into the house and grabbed some cold water from the fridge and cranked the temp on dual split in bedroom to 68 and turned a fan on and stripped down to my underwear... it took about a half hour to cool down enough as I drank about a quart of water.
After that I would take a break when riding in 100 or higher heat to hydrate every 30 minutes. If the temps were going to be 100-105 or higher I wouldn't ride anywhere further than 30 minutes away and more often I took the car so I could transport a car full of cold air...
Riding in excess heat is equivalent to riding where icy roads might be possible...just too dangerous. The heat exhaustion sneaks up on you and then you are dangerous and approach life threatening risks.

Yep. Cooling vests and Camelback for longer rides and I am good. Came across the Mojave desert a couple of summers ago and it was about 110F the whole way.  We got a late start from Morro Bay to Needles where we finally stopped for a breather (it was 113 in Needles). We decompressed and headed for Flagstaff for the night. 7,000 ft in the cool pines was a welcome treat.

We were smarter when we headed out from Phoenix.  A very early start put us into San Bernardino before the heat came on. Unfortunately, we fought heavy afternoon traffic headed out to Santa barbara. That sucked.

One of many road trips in the Great American southwest. Unfortunately, unless you're traveling in the brief winter, you will encounter warmth out here.

I would much rather deal with heat while riding than extreme cold.

It's going to be in the 90's for the next couple of days so I'm not planning on any rides, I don't have a good lightweight summer jacket and it was pretty hot in my leather jacket on my last ride when it was cooler, so I'll do some bike work over the next couple of days and go for a ride on Saturday or Sunday.

Luckily we don't have extreme cold weather here or I wouldn't be able to ride either, I've got way too many joint injuries and arthritis/bursitis to even contemplate riding in really cold weather. When I win the lottery tonight I'm gonna buy a McMansion in Queensland so that I can spend my winters there, and my summers here in Melbourne. I'd move there permanently if I could, but my wife won't let me. Oh well.... ;D

Thanks Terry. Built this house +25 years ago, using lots of reclaimed material, on 97 acres. Added my separate shop, and the garage + mudroom to the house, after we sold our home in Toronto. Never moving again!

Local zoning does not allow it. Good friends own the “long 200” behind us, and another the 100 acres south…. “No potential development” sits well with all of us.

So, ya'll couldn't sell off 5 or 10 acre single family residential parcels here and there?
