Honda Keys made near you
« on: January 11, 2022, 03:40:13 PM »
Got a 78 GL 1000 that lost keys to.
I know I can use the lock cylinder 3 digit code on these to get more cut but can't find a locksmith near me that still does that.worat case I have to find a parts bike and swap if it in false tank lock and helmet lock but it's be so much easier to have two keys cut...

Anybody know anyone near them that cuts Honda keys ?

Have you tried watching EBay with your “Honda key XXX”. I’ve been lucky more than a few times and picked up  spa e keys for bikes with only one......

Back around August 31,2014 when I bought my Kaw 900 Z1B the owner had the title but could not find the key. Our local big box dealer just a little ways from my shop had been in business for many years and was called M&M Cycles or Zeigler now and Cyclepartsnation on the web. Just for kicks I removed the ignition and stopped in there before going to a locksmith and plopped it on the counter. A guy took it and said let me check and shortly came back with 2 brand new genuine Kaw keys for it. I about crapped my pants that they still had some around. After I handed him 10 bucks for them and we were chatting he mentioned that I was so lucky today that I should buy a lottery ticket on the way home.  :D
Within the last year I walked into a local old time lock shop thats been in biz forever and the guy looked at the ignition in my hand and said "So you need a key for an old CB750".  Turns out he has a couple along with some Kaw z's also and we have mutual friends. Just needed a copy for that one though as a key from another bike I have worked on this K2 project also.

These guys are still around.
I bought some keys from them for my 750 & CJ a few years back.

When the business was sold to the new owners and moved to a shiny brand new locations some lucky person or company got to go in a buy out all of the 'old' stuff. Wish I could of had a look around first !
If you have any old time Honda dealerships close to you you may get lucky also as the bikes were sent with extra keys to the dealer.
