Petition to bring Honda H'ness 350 to US
« on: February 09, 2022, 03:10:28 PM »
I have been looking at this new CB350 that's not available in the US and came across this petition. It's a cool looking bike, but yes... it's a single cylinder. Still, though... it would be nice to have options out there that aren't huge sport bikes and Harleys. I don't have anything against them, of course. I just like the old cb350, cb360, etc and this is about as close as I've found to a new version.

KTM makes a great little single 390 in several form factors. Kawi has their twin 400 that is an absolute gem (we have two of them for my wife and daughter). Both of these models have reviewed more favorably than the equivalent prior Honda models.

I would love to get my mitts on the new Ninja 250r but that too is not slated for the US.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Honda has done a retro 500 thumper in the GB 500, but like the FT500, it didn't sell well. Today they tend to bring a high price, but they were often discounted a great deal after sitting on the showroom floor for a couple of years. In 1984, a new 1982 FT500 cost less than $1000.

The Kawasaki W800 is more my style. It just doesn't really fill a void that my cb550k doesn't cover, other than the twin setup. I wish they made one that was smaller and lighter. They did make a 650, but I'm more interested in a 300-400cc (preferably twin). There are plenty of used early 70's cb350's and 360's, of course. My wife is interested in learning to ride. She likes the retro bikes, but there's not many to choose from. She's wanting something newer.
Royal Enfeld has some nice looking bikes. She likes the look of the Meteor 350. Again, I'd be more interested if it was a twin. There's a "Genuine Motorcycles" G400C which is a Chinese knock-off (honda engine copy) that looks nice and has pretty good reviews. Price is around $4k and similar models in other countries are pretty popular.

To be honest, I figure I'll be riding it more than her lol!
