I'm having a hell of a time finding some small saddle bags bags that:
- fit with the OEM rear blinkers
- don't hit stock 4-4 pipes
- don't rub the shocks
- don't flap on the hwy

throw-overs won't work with my seat...

What are you guys using?

Throw overs can be used if your seat is still hinged, just open the seat and slide the support strap of the bags under the seat, then close the seat.  Have done this for years.   Just use short bags or shorten up the support strap to keep the bags off the pipes.  Mine had tie down rings front and back and I used the front ones with a short strap to tie the bags to the rear pegs to keep them from flapping.

I'm not sure that you will find any bag that won't have some issue, especially the turn signals and the springs. I have throwover bags that I plan to use on my 550 with the stock seat and those are my two areas. I used these same bags with my FJ, but of course it has a mono-shock and I also had Givi sidecase mounts (I never did pick up cases for them) that relocated the turn signals farther back.

I am thinking of riging up some sort of plastic strip to attach to the bags where they contact the shocks to protect them.

If you can find shallow enough bags, you can run the straps under the seat. Perhaps for touring you should consider one of the old Honda racks that turn up on eBay (one came with my bike) so you can use a tail bag rather than saddle bags. I know it won't look that great with your seat, but they are easy to put on and take off.

Skonnie boy has bags on his 750. If he's not off on his honeymoon he might tell you where his came from.

I use these:

... and run them under the seat. Minimal rubbing, the have tie downs on the bottom. I custom ordered this color combo, he does nice work. They're fairly small but were perfect for me traveling by myself.

I used these with 74 CB750 and stock seat and work with turn signals. All luggage will rub against the shocks which is why the good backs have a foam insert there to stop the bags from getting worn-  mine were from Motopak luggage.

and come with rain covers

cheers

I found these in the clearance room at my local Competition Accessories warehouse. Less than $40. This is on a CB500, but I don't see why they wouldn't work on a 750.

Motopaks will work. I've got a set of Firstgear bags that work with my 4-4's on my 750K:

http://www.firstgear-usa.com/Luggage/Silverstone/CSSSaddlebags.html

Their tail bag is nice, too, but not with the seat in your picture, of course.

FWIW

Vintage Shoei hardbags, large or small, will work IF you get 'em with original Shoei brackets for a 750. The stock tail light is OK but the orig rear turn sigs will have to be removed. Almost all Shoei's (not all) I've seen have Shoei turn sigs mounted on the bags. Make sure the brackets are correct and complete. The brackets are a must!

Nice Shoei's can still be found on ebay. I found an NOS white pair of the small ones. They are now on the 550.

If you want to see a set of the large ones on a really nice 750KO, look in bike of the month for Simpson's KO. They are large but IMHO, they look like they belong there.

If you prefer soft bags, you can buy and modify later model "supports" (or make a pair) or saddlebag "brackets" (metal). They are U-shaped and support the bags from the fender side to keep 'em from rubbing anything. Ebay has lots of 'em for later bikes.

Just a thought - - -

Dear All,
I'm following up on the 2011 thread. I'm in the same situation, looking for saddlebags that will work w/ stock tail 750k lights and 341s. I looked at all the answers and but it's seems that a lot of recommendation on Ebay and websites are not working anymore.
Could you guys help me out?
Thanks

Welcome aboard
As with most old threads as this the links will be dead as you found, especially on feebay. Most of the recommended bags have been discontinued long ago by the manufacturers.
I don't have any bags on my bike so I don't have a recommendation for you on what's available today.
Be sure to go to the new member introduction page and introduce yourself and what year and model bike you have. Pictures are always good to see of your bike too.(I attached a couple shots from the late 70s of my 76 K6 and one from last September of my current 75 K5.

I looked into this last year to see compatible (to me) saddlebags for the CB750.

Thread here:
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,185709.msg2151203.html#msg2151203

As you can see earlier in this thread I had MotoPak bags which were good though not waterproof. I did a search again and looked at the following bags:

1. Kreiga Duo - waterproof but pretty shapeless.
2. Tusk bags - I got the rackless system for my dirt bike and its great quality - they have throwovers as well
https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/tusk-adventure-saddlebags-panniers
3. I ended up buying Burley saddlebags for the look and I was very happy last year riding around with them - turn signals had to be relocated though (I bought them off Ebay - cheaper - but here is a link to how they look:

https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/burly-brand-voyager-throw-over-saddlebags?sku_id=1331713

Amazon have a range of cheaper options but usually not waterproof - easily solved with $10 waterproof liners (e.g. sealskin or similar)

good luck!
Andy

Good luck
Andy

I have 2 sets of old Shoies, neither worked with the stock turn signals on my 550F or 750F.

*edit* I didn't notice the age of this back to life thread. I see I commented 10 years ago when I had my '77 550K.

If you want hard bags then the signals will have to come off or you will need to make a relocating bracket to shift them back. The Shoie bags (and the Bates bags on my GL1000) all had lights built in. I didn't/don't run the bags on the CB's all the time, so it was no big deal to remove the turn signals when the bags were on the bike.
