I like the look of these bikes (not the rs) and was the closest thing to get me to buy. I'm still not a modern bike owner but when these were released I thought they did a good job capturing the vintage look. When I saw it in person the size of the tank was off putting. I shared the road with a couple guys on a matching set of these new kawasaki with bags and everything..we were with them from Colorado into Jackson hole. They seemed to be enjoying themselves on those things....they looked good in motion.

ok...explain to me how stuffing 4 cylinders worth of exhaust gas down a single exhaust pipe is so much less restrictive?  And don't try and come at me with all that scavenging effect of the collector and Bernoulli and all that hocus pocus because you know damn well few exhaust manufacturers have done the math, and if they have, it really only affects a relatively narrow rpm range, and the results are not repeatably manufacturable for $400 a pipe.  Really, I am just bull#$%*ting here.  I put 4 into1 on most of my bikes too.  My kz1000 has 11 to 1 1075cc kit, andrews cams, ported head and vm29 smoothies and  a open Kerker.  Wack the throttle and scary things happen very fast.  So what if I put the factory 4 into 2 with Mega's supplied to Kawasaki by Jardine back on instead of the Kerkert?  Wack the throttle and slightly less scary things happen slightly less fast with quite a bit less noise.  Whoopie
If it works good, it looks good...

Want to stop a car ram rod (broom handle) a potatoes up the exhaust of a car that pisses you off or parks too close making you climb in the other side to get in...
They cannot see it and their mechanic will be stumped and the arrogant sort will have a repair bill the size of Kilimanjaro.

I have never done such but Uncle T's post made me think of an explanation might be useful to some whom have neighbors whom are making life difficult, if their dogs don't detect you near their car and you don't get caught doing it. Here the sound of walking on dirty sand crunches beneath your feet. So, backpack watering tank sprayer and you might need to refill multiple times to reach the vehicle... Or do it after the rare rain...if you are really premeditated about it... to wet the ground path you take to give yourself quieter

But that isn't being nice and kind and nice...

Nice video! ;)

It would be nice if another 4-1 can revive the mighty loud sound the old Z1-900 had with 4-1 back in those days. Especially when engine was modified. ;D
The new bike has a little bit lame sound.

Yes the exhaust is restricted.   A guy on the Kaw forum mentioned that the aftermarket 4 into 4 pipes can be fitted.

If you like loud 900 Z bikes Per I have one just for you. The little short 4-1 header coming off my Z1B and sneaking out the left side instead of the right is one of those pipes that you hear wailing away when somebody rips off on the throttle  far away in the night and you hear it going through the gears and it does have a baffle  :D  Frankly anything over 4 grand just gets too loud for me to ride comfortably.  I like quiet stealthy hard acceleration without drawing a ton of attention  ;)  Runs good with it though !  :D

My quick funny story if old 'grandpa' can stay awake long enough to type this is I was at a local car junkyard one time scrounging around because I heard there was a couple of bikes hidden away in a trailer there. While scrounging I found a set of Kaw 900 pipes and  pulled them out. I brought the old man out who owned the place and showed him and he said make an offer. I did the old "I can't price your stuff" kind of a line so he said $50.00. At first I was thinking maybe he meant apiece x 4 but it was a fiddy for them all. At the time I did not own a 900 but my buddy did so I let him have them and install them on his bike. WHOOPS- But I have not asked for them back. He stores his bike at my place so I get to visit them every time I go down there - lol
He took a nice set of 4-4 Leovince pipes off his 900 when he installed the stockers which are hanging in my rafters that I could snatch if I wanted to mellow it down. I guess sometimes though it is kinda fun to go out and raise a little hell and make some noise and be a hooligan !  Lesson I learned though is don't sell or get rid of the good stuff cause you might need it someday.  ;)

Good looking bike Eric!
A biker friend back in the early 80's had a Z1-900 with a short loud Devil 4-1, also on the left side. A little bit too loud ;D
