Putting Pictures, From a Cell Phone, On the Forums?
« on: March 02, 2007, 07:30:50 PM »

Yeah, I just upgraded my cell phones and mine has the camera feature. I've seen pictures on here, that were from a cell phone and I have no idea how it is done. Any input would be very much appreciated. If I can get some kind of success in doing this, I'll be able to shorten the time that it will take me to post pictures of my "project". Thanks.

                                                           Later on, Bill :) ;)

Might know it, it's not a Motorola. It's through Alltel. I've never heard of this one. It's called an LG (Lifes Good) model # AX245. Ever heard of it? It seems like a pretty decent phone and all.

Bill - I don't have any personal knowledge of your phone, however, I have just upgraded my wife's phone to a Panasonic V2S which throughout the user guide made mention of sharing your photo's with family and friends etc etc. It talked about connecting the cable to your computer and transferring the files that way. There was no cable supplied with the phone of course! Went back to the shop I got it from and purchased the proper, specific, USB cable and software to enable me to download the photo's taken with the phone to my computer, and then distribute them in the normal manner from there.

Perhaps, if you aren't already in possession of the correct gear, this is what you may need to do also?

Cheers, Phil

If you dont have the USB-cable for what ever reason (lost it, never had one, dont want one..........) you can send the pic to your e-mail by sending an MMS to your e-mail adress.
Just follow the same procedures as when you send a regular MMS but type in the recipient e-mail adress instead of the phonenumber.
It´ll cost you the fee of an MMS, though...

Does you phone and computer have Bleutooth?

If they do, you can transfer your pics from the phone to the computer wireless.

Easiest way is to buy the USB-cable.

Cheers
Dan

By the way, do you have any close-up pics of the bike in your avatar?
I believe I have the very same tank sitting on a shelf in the shed. NOS, never painted, never used.

Hey Phil,  Thanks for the info, I had no idea and of course I thought of the question AFTER I left Alltel with the phone. Why is it you can start getting all kinds of questions AFTER the fact? ??? ::) I guess that's life, huh? ???  Thanks again. ;)

Hey Daniel,   I appreciate you and Phil cluing me in on this. I'll have to get another USB cable and get things setup. Those charges from going through the email process could add up, it you got carried away (Which I tend to do sometimes ;D) The phone is Bluetooth capable, but not my "Cheapie" pc.

About the avatar, I can bring up a large picture on the screen but, can't seem to post it or even email it. I have tried to do this for turboguzzi and haven't manged to accomplish it yet. I would like to because I think it is a Awesome Bike and would like mine to look similar to it, with a touch of yours, StevieMacs, Paulages, Dougs and several others (whose names escape me for the time being, sorry). My problem seems to be "sizing". If I can ever manage it, I'd be more than happy to do it. If I could even remember where I got the picture, that might help.
Thanks again guys, for the info. Later On,  Bill :) ;)

Hey Bill -- perhaps a silly question -- does your phone have one of those teeny memory cards, like a micro-sd?  Life is much easier if it does.  You buy a cheap card reader, pop the card out of the phone and into the reader on your PC.  Then, you can copy the pictures right over.

DME is right.  The easiest way to transfer pictures is via email.  If you  plan to do a bunch, you might want to get the USB cable for your phone.  Bluetooth can be a pain to set up if you're not used to that kind of pain.  Yours is an Altell, but note that if you have a Verizon, you cannot use Bluetooth to transfer pictures unless you're willing to do a bit of hacking.

Bill - I assume you are running Microsoft Windows on your computer? If so, Windows has a little graphics program called - Paint. Which normally is present in all flavours of MS Windows, and is why I am suggesting to use it. You won't have to muck about with finding and downloading some other program to do the job.
It will resize your pictures.  I can PM you with instructions on how to use it if you wish?

Cheers, Phil

Phil,

How about PMing those MS Paint instructions to me too please? I think Bill and I are on the same technical page.

Thanks,
Jerry

Easy program for resizing and keeping original quality of your photos is infranview.  Open the image with it, go to image, resize/resample, and select 640x480 in the options.  Save it and youre done.
