swapping fork lowers -- which will work?
« on: January 26, 2022, 08:14:56 AM »
I have a CB500 K2. Wanting to add more stopping power with dual disk, perhaps I'm too used to modern bikes but I'm feeling kind of unsafe in traffic.

Can I swap in the lowers from a 1978 CB550 and keep everything else? Meaning fork tubes, springs, damper rod, fender, front axle, etc.

Alternatively, is there any *unsafe consequence* of using two left-side lowers from a CB500, so that one caliper is in front of the wheel and the other behind?

Done both and both work, if you have a reversed caliper you will need to modify fender mount, cut off piece with two mounting holes, reverse and weld back on.
You will also need to modify speedo drive plate, pm me your email addressand i will send you a word document
