#10 on this schematic.What is this tube for, any ideas?

It looks like it clips into the bottom of the battery box with rubber cushions? My best guess is it is somehow mounted to the frame and acts as a support for the battery box. The "normal" 750's have a battery box that mounts to the frame both front and rear with flanges, and the auto box looks like it only has the flange on one end, possibly supported at the other end by the tube?

Correct.  The tube supports the bottom of the battery box and takes most of the weight of the battery and electrical components attached to the battery box.

 I wondered that too, it looks out of place for a support. I wonder, why it is removable?

My guess is it needs to slide in or out to keep both the rubber bushing and the battery box from moving up or bouncing. But that is only a guess.
