I had a fork seal that was Really jammed in a lower so I used(I thought I was being careful..)a small drill bit and left a tiny vertical 'channel' in the sealing area of the lower where the fork seal presses in on it's O.D.
I want to use synthetic fork oil and I think it might be good to use some excellent quality RTV silicone sealant along the outside of the new fork seal when I install it;hopefully it will seal w/o leaking.
What's a great silicone/sealant to use ?

Would be smarter to sand the area smooth and repair the damage with a touch of jb weld.  Then sand it smooth again.

I'm also considering using some crankcase sealant.

I've considered that since a few days ago and the more I mull-it-over,I'm not sure I could sand the i.d. of the fork lower(oil seal outer area)to the correct dimension w/o causing the possibility of a loose fit when i install a new seal..

It's not as daunting as it seems.
Remove the high spots, which you'd have to do anyway.
Fill the low spots with jb - then sand and feather that flush.

Either way, you don't want to glue that seal in place.  The service life on those is kinda short.  Eventually you (or the next guy) will be right back where you are now.

Consider Hondabond? It never gets super hard (or adhesive).

Yes,I am thinking that if I smear a bit in there after prepping/cleaning the surfaces to get them oil-free then install the seal.I think it may hold-up to synthetic fork oil.. I should probably let it set-up for a good 18hrs? before I fill it with oil.

I forget the timing on the tube.the stuff never really hardens up, so i’m sure the longer you wait the better. It’s also most effective when applied as a very thin film.

Not sure any of the tube sealants are meant for hydraulic pressure loads.  The seal setting into position on the downstroke could shear the bond.

Jb weld sets in 15 hours 🤷‍♂️

I'd go with the JB Weld method.

I think I can make a mini applicator 'stick' and try to fill only the small drill channel that I 'oops' on inside the fork lower seal area:it was only a 5/64" drill bit.  thanks  8)

Popsicle sticks are an underrated tool 😎. I recommend the blue raspberry

Do try to deburr the area with a file first.

The repair area doesn't have to be machined surface smooth. You can sand it enough that it doesn't nick or grab the seal. The seal does the work and seats tight against the fork leg.

I roughed-up the surface a little and applied JBweld to both spots where the small drill bit made two vertical grooves on either side, then after 36 hrs. to cure I carefully & lightly touched it with a Dremel as smooth as I could to keep the repaired area round  ::) then used a little fine emery to smooth it as well as possible.I also applied a light coat of HondaBond case sealer(just for insurance :D )to the outer edge of the seal and assembled it. No More Leak !  :)
