Which type of coating will you use? gloss or semi-gloss ?

I will have them coated by a powdercoater, probably flat or semigloss black... we´ll see

Go semi gloss. I have a few flat finished parts and they seem to stain easily…..

At the moment waiting for the gasket set for the engine.
I want to have all gaskets and seals at home before I disassemble the engine, as having the engine in parts and after that finding out a gasket is unobtainable would be a drag...

Anyway, I had some time over this weekend and with the frame powdercoated I started to think about the rest of the paintwork.
The plan has always been to use Yamahas "speedblocks" and race colors, and my thoughts have always been the yellow-white-black combo.
However, a mate just mentioned that he would find it better suited in the red-white-black combo...
Therefore I made a couple of "quick n' dirty" sketch-up in mspaint just to help the decision, and I´m still partial to the yellow.

What´s your opinion?

+1 to Yellow! With the dark powder coat on the frame and swing arm it will “pop”.

I like the yellow 'bumblebee' also. Friend did up a Yamaha 650 road legal flat tracker in that color scheme with similar bodywork. Shaved a ton of weight off it and even though he has a large collection he is saying its turned into one of his most fun bikes to ride around.

As for the shop/garage, the part seen in the picture above is the machine and workbench area.
The pic below shows the whole shop, 750 sq ft or 70 m2

Got around to finish up the rear shock today.
The spring was powdercoated black, the body painted semigloss silver and black, and the spring retainer and lock ring I nickelplated.
Turned out okay for a 43 year old shock absorber

Still waiting for the engine gaskets to arrive, and after that there is a lot more disassembly before the reassembly can start... but other than that everything is going well

All gaskets and seals needed are now ordered and delivered.
The gasket set was found in Germany and the seals in Italy... Perhaps not surprising that the parts were slightly hard to find as the engine was only manufactured for three years, but here they are and now the disassembly can commence

Found some time to give the paint remover a shot at dissolving the black paint on the cylinders and heads.
Seems to do the job, after letting it sit for 24 hours the paint could be wiped off with a paper towel
