73 750 Carb kits
« on: February 10, 2022, 10:47:54 AM »
Hi Everyone , it's been a Looooong time . I used to be bikerbart . Went through years of hell , now I am back . I just rebuilt my top end with Cycle x .50 kit , and my carbs need serious help , Any suggestions with Carb kits ?? Aftermarket ?? I cleaned and rebuilt em , floats are allowing fuel to overflow out the bowl tubes . Could be just a float height adjustment , But it's been a while , I am a little foggy . Thank you

Hey Bart...welcome back!   The aftermarket carb kits available now are crap, we dont recommend using the brass but the gaskets should be ok. Do you have the genuine Keihin parts that would have originally been in the carbs? If no, you need to search for genuine Honda parts.

BTW - how well did you know fellow BC forum member Frank 754?  Sadly, he passed away a couple months ago.

My CB750 K6 stock carbs were not used since 1990 and left with fuel.
Took them apart for cleaning 2017.
I only replaced the hard rubber gaskets under top cover and bowl.
The small rubber grommet in top cover.
Changed main jet to smaller Keihin jet

Everything else looked fine after +90.000 km.
Has now been used on my stock K2 another 8000 km since 2019.

Aww , sorry to hear about Frank . Crap . I have all the original parts AND there is the best tuner around here in Vancouver and he already said he would take care of my carbs . ( it's the $$$ that is stopping me ) I build vintage porsche 356 replica's and work on and upholster vintage cars too , This guy I am talking about is the best I have seen .

One thing I remember from way back is someone had a issue with fuel from the overflow tubes, and it turned out that one or more of his tubes were cracked. He either fixed it with heat shrink, or soldered the tube.   If adjusting the float height doesn't fix the issue, you might want to examine the overflow tubes.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

Indeed it could be a float height adjustment. You sound capable, so what’s stopping you from proceeding with removing the rack and going through the set? I realize you’re a bit foggy, but tutorials on YouTube can get you through with a little bit of confidence. As far as new brass, I’d agree to retain what you’ve got, clean it up, check and set the float heights and get new gaskets. Could be leaky float needle valves. I actually bought a vacuum set to sync my carbs after rebuilds (leaky #1 carb as well as bad petcock) simply because I wanted to learn how. Glean what you can here, study up on video and “just do it”.

Thanks you guy's , I should just do it . But Paul works magic on carbs . Even machines his own parts , I watched him help us with a 43 straight eight buick and the thing runs like new . I will try again myself , check out a few things , then we will see . I have kept it running since 03 , so , yeah I can do this .

+3 on cracked overflow  tubes in float bowls.
Some has repaired by careful soldering without blocking the tubes.

Mine were OK except for some were blocked when airfilter got fuel sometimes when float hang, petcock not off when parked.

My old float needles with seat were OK too. I have Keyster aftermarket as plan B if needed.

The 2 vent hoses connected to inner carbs  must work too. Mine were blocked. Internally connected to the outer carb beside.
When blowing into these hoses, the fuel will bubble in bowls.
