Alternator Pins & Posts
« on: February 26, 2022, 08:49:27 PM »
Accidentally removed these upon disassembly of the engine (don't know why) and now it's time for everything to go back together and I need to know the proper way for these to go in. Are the pins inserted with the open side facing in or with the pin-hole side facing in? And are the metal posts (not sure what else to call them) just placed in afterwards? Am I missing something, like a spring or something else? Or are they meant to just be able to move around in there as I placed them there in the second picture? Just moving the whole thing from side to side makes them fall out.

There are 3 springs that go under the 3 small pins. Once you twist the starter gear into place it's all trapped in there.

No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Yes there are springs(#8) that go in the holes of the cap(#19). The solid end goes against the roller(#9).
(For some reason I cannot attach the screen shot of the fiche for you to see the assembly)

So I must've not known and didn't see them slip out. Great! I asked Hondaman of he has any spares and if he doesn't then I'll have to buy some.

Thanks fellas!

Thanks Don! That's not bad at all!

Any idea if, when I do reassemble it, should those solid metal pucks or posts be lubed at all?
