So my beloved 750K2 is out-of-service for a bit... and I'm on it's stablemate, an '81 Honda CM400 Custom. Now the CM400 was not a real popular bike, but it's really quite a nice ride. However, she doesn't have a kick-starter... GRRRRR.  >:( 
What's a motorcycle without a kick-start? A real pain in the arse is what it is. The bike had been sitting for the past 7 years when I brought it home. New battery, plugs, cleaned the jets, etc. etc... and she eagerly fired up. This morning, in the PNW pouring rain, the solenoid goes out. NO KICK START. Are you getting the theme of my rant? Good. Out comes the screwdriver to bypass the solenoid so I can get to work...

Amazingly a local Honda dealer has the solenoid in stock so off I go.

I had an '81 CM400 Custom once... One of the best bikes I've ever owned. Man I miss that bike. It got small for me, but it was a great bike. I sold it to a buddy of mine who rode it from Vermont out to California (via Chicago) and up and down the western sea board a couple of times...

Great bike...

It would have been nice to have the kick start, though...

yeah, I think it's a great bike. The mufflers "accidentally" fell off this morning, now she doesn't sound like a lawn mower anymore ;D

Hmmmnnn............... I reckon it'd just sound like a lawn mower with no mufflers, personally...................  ;D

Heh heh...  :D kinda does, but it's a little more rumble-y. Maybe rumble-y isn't the right description- more like pop-poppy. :P
