Front Fork Bottom Case Marring
« on: March 08, 2022, 06:00:37 AM »
Hi all, after much swearing and frustration I have finally removed the 40yr old fork seals and have the forks apart from inspection. However, I am wondering if i have caused some damage to the inside of the forks whilst using the fork seal removal tool. Even being as careful as I was I seem to have caused some scratches. Are these recoverable? I am wondering if to polish these down to they don't catch the new seals and hopefully don't cause any leaks.

Those are pretty minor and the seals do have a rubberized coating on the OD that will probably seal well. Carefully. Sand down the high points and to be sure, smear a little sealant (I like Hondabond as it never gets really hard and sticky), on the OD of the seal before pushing it in. Good luck!
