Non-Honda Aftermarket Electronic Ignition
« on: March 07, 2022, 12:07:05 PM »
I've got a '77 K7 and I'm looking to upgrade my ignition.

Now I follow a fella on Instagram who is a participant in the People's Choice Competition and he has a '76 K6 motor in which he has installed an electronic ignition from Raw Hide Cycle. I've attached the link.

I am VERY curious as to know if this would actually work and if so, would it actually be beneficial or detrimental to the battery life/charging system.

P.S.  I've asked him about it, and I'm just waiting for a response. But I was genuinely interested in what you folks with much more knowledge would have to say.

unless he has done something not shown in your link...that ignition will only fire 2 of your four cylinders.  Looks to be the same as a dyna S
If it works good, it looks good...

He's just a reseller of ignitions from Charlie's Place. I've never heard anything bad but I use Dyna myself.

It's hard to go wrong with a Dyna S ignition. They've been making them in the US for more than 40 years, have an outstanding customer service line, and retail for $165.

I'll have to look into this a bit more then.

I'm stuck between going stock points with Hondamans ignition OR going the electronic ignition, much like this, if I can find one that is actually good and not detrimental to the battery life, ect.
