I'd hazard a guess that the CB400F tank would fit OK.

Some of the CB 350 twin parts interchange on the F bike. Whether a tank would fit would need to be measured, yet it is a different look for sure.

Not without some adjusting. The 400F would be the clsoest fit, but I don't think it will slip right on -- IIRC I think the rear mount in the back is different. Why switching tanks? The 350F tank is one of my favorites...

Maybe the CB500 twin, which has a tank that looks very similar to the 350.

Very different tanks, they just both have knee indents.

In terms of finding a replacement for cheaper, I'm not sure that finding a tank for a different bike (e.g. 400F) is going to be that much cheaper. 350F tanks come up for reasonable money now and then (and ridiculou smoney more frequently). I've got one that I will most likely sell when I get back to the States in June. I haven't seen it in person (I bought a parts bike and some spares as a lot) but the photo shows it to be pretty clean inside but with a small ding on the top in the rear. If you can wait that long lemme know and we can figure something out. It's in AZ.

It's too bad none of the talented craftsmen I've heard of just south of the border aren't hammering out replacement tanks, have you seen the prices tanks from India are fetching?

What specifically is "shot"?  Have you posted a Want to Buy thread? Someone may have one laying around.

I've thought about this as well as chroming, but just don't have the time or motivation right now... Maybe a retirement project when that comes around, but that's still a ways off.

Redkote or Caswell will work fine, just tape up all of the holes first.

This is true, or POR15. If you send photos of the tank maybe folks can chime in as to whether or not its salvageable.

I’d do everything in my power to avoid a tank liner, unless you can easily get gas that is ethanol free. It seems to be a roll of the dice now.

On an Indian repop tank side note - I got a repop triumph tank for a project and they are ROUGH haha.
If the cb tanks are made to the same quality and style I’d avoid it unless your up for some serious work. Maybe painted stuff is better. My tank was raw.

This is why a photo would be good. Shot how? Rusted out interior? Banged up? Full of pinholes? I've used POR15 and Redkote with no problems, for years, but you're right -- if the inside is decent better to not have to use them.

As for repops, it was hypothetical -- nobody is making a repop CB350F tank.

Ahh got it! — and plus one on the photos!

I’ve used a few of them in the past with no issues(we used to get the local radiator repair man to coat them, but he is no longer in business)  but over the last few years I’ve heard quite a few incidents of failure. All blamed on ethanol. I believe most of them state they are no good for gas with ethanol. Most reports were failure after a year or two.

Fresh painted tank with a failed liner…what dreams are made of haha.

Charlies cycle supply west jersey Illinois. I do not know the prices. They bought out the local Honda shop decades ago. The blue one has an offset gas cap, not 750.
They also have a pretty nice Christmas edition monkey bike with the chrome tank.
