Topic: '77 K7 Front Sprocket

2 questions fellas.

First:  Is this sprocket from a different year or did they make them mass produced for all the years and didn't care to change them even knowing the 2 holes aren't needed for the K7 & K8?

Second: after torque'ing the bolt to spec (14 ft lbs), it still wiggles back and forth. Not much, but enough to warrant this question; is it normal for there to be some play there or should it be rock tight and not move at all?

It seems that way, don't it haha!

I'm sticking with the 630 on this build. If I do a K7 or K8 in the future I might try switching to the 530 to test the differences.

I just don't want to create more work for myself in the future if the wiggle room or "play" there is not supposed to be that way. I'm wondering if it's normal for the chain to have that sway but even that wouldn't make complete sense.

Guess I'll wait and see if someone else can answer this question cuz I'm lost.

   I hit the search and found a little info.  I'm reading that a bit of wobble is normal, more in the earlier style but some in these. Five or six years ago they were posting you could only find the thin generic sprockets which wobbled more.  It appears you got a proper one.

A Cb650 front sprocket was a single sided shoulder,  center bolt 530 sprocket,
makes for an OEM 530 conversation..?

Thinking SilkWilli or SB41 may have the patent rights....

The wiggle is perfectly normal. The screws and bolts on most Honda’s just keep the sprocket from falling off the end of the shaft. It’s free to align itself......

I'd +1 John's comment about wiggle.
With the frame, swing arm, engine lash up, perfect alignment would be hit or miss. Some wiggle would help prevent excessive wear.

Just thought it was odd in general, especially since it seems to make the washer obsolete with the wiggle because that screw can't go in anymore.
