Got the up/down to .007" and thinking that's good. Now side to side.

I’m sure you know but if not, make sure to double check/tune it up once you get your tire mounted.

Never had a new tire go on a fresh rim and not move it a bit.

I think spec on most 70s bikes is like .040-.080

Getting something tighter in balance and runout makes for a very smoother riding bike. We should probably yearly balance the tire and true the rims.
But, if your bike is always seeing rough roads you are hardly going to be able to detect that level of effort. If you balance them well and maintain the balance the tires should last longer...
Reason is they won't have any attempt to oscillate...

Repairing the Yamiya bits.
I ended up using JB Weld clear epoxy. It seems quite strong and easy to work with. I tried super glue and baking soda without success.  I'll do another application tomorrow. I'm repairing Yamiya pieces that were put on the bike but the bike was not ridden with them on. The po complained that were breaking apart. The air box inside part broke in several pieces and a lower tab broke pff the left sidecover. Surprising for Yamiya I think.

Before the epoxy repair.

Puttered about on the Yamiya repops. Getting more excited about this build, probably more of a resto mod. Cliff.

Another glue to consider instead of epoxy is Gorilla Polyurethane glue. But, you premix it with water in paper cup and it foams up and expands and you stir it up and it breaks down the foam into more consistent bubble size and because you have already made it foam up and expand , add a tiny bit of water and keep adding water and mixing then seeing if it expands more. Once you have activated it all that way, couple drops of water on small quantity of glue...
The stuff expands greatly. The White version expands less and you do the same trick with it and it is easier to work with.
If you need to build up sandable glue that is very strong
Then foamed Gorilla Glue is very useful.
You apply it with a paintbrush or stick a bit at a time. Coffee stir sticks work well too.
Or popsicle sticks... You can buy a huge box of popsicle sticks at craft stores for not a ton of money and have things the grand kids can play with or do craft with and you have a big supply of glue and small quantity paint stirring sticks or epoxy or any number of other uses.
White school glue dissolves in water if you want the grand kids to play with glue that won't stain clothes and is reversible. Then you can take school white glue and make slime, I do not recommend it but it is very easy to make...

Popsicle sticks can be reshaped to get glue in areas that are smaller since they are easily trimmed to shaped with a utility knife.

Apply the foam glue and afterwards you can shape it or smooth it with sandpaper 80-100 grit if you need to knock down lot of foam that expanded or just 150 to smooth for painting.

Gorilla glue can be controlled the spread with making tape around the perimeter you want it to stop. Then sand back any flu that went over the tape and peel your tape off for a clearly bordered glue spread. Epoxy often wicks under a lot of tapes and is brittle and while it is strong it often needs more tooth in what you are gluing to for strongest bond. Often PU glue is stronger than epoxy and it is as durable and it has a bit of give unlike epoxy and it adheres better to many things that are dissemiliar.

Epoxy mixed with glass sphere microballoons works but you are sanding glass and the dust is not friendly from the microballoons...

tGot the sidecover screens in thanks to wideAWAKE. I used a soldering iron with a 90 degree bend in it, held my breath as I was afraid what the heat might do to the front side. I only did 4 tabs and didn't hea.tr them quite enough but they are holding the screens.

Tried my hand at some metal work today to eliminate a long stay for my Kerker pipe. Someone posted such a thing a short while ago which inspired me to try my hand at it.
The original goofy mount,

and the new look

I already see how I can make a better one. Ha! The photos make it look better.

I hated the goofy Kerker mount as well.  Never did like hanging pipes from shock mounts.  For now, I just repurposed the Kerker bit on my K5.

Just rolled it off the lift, needs some small stuff touched up just to ice it. A restomod, I'm happy with it and it runs nicely.
Hope you like it too. Cliff.

Cliff, the bike is gorgeous…you definitely do very nice work. It is so pretty I would be afraid of damaging it or scratching the beautiful paintwork…
You painter is skilled too. You are thorough in you restorations and rebuilds and I enjoy your threads as the attention to detail is something I like and you consistently address the details!

Unfortunately the pipes don't fit at the pillion bolt (footpeg bolt) hole for 3 and 4. The instructions explain how to muscle the #3 pipe to line up however when you add #4 it puts everything out of line. The bolt is no where near where it's supposed to be. I can't muscle both into place. I'll try to add pipes 1 and 2  before I start whining to David Silvers.
If anyone has had this problem and solved it please let me know. It's extremely frustrating to spend lots of money on these only to find they don't fit.  Cliff.

Cliff.... That sucks and that one really needs to come back a long way! I have to ask the obvious; you don’t have an extra exhaust gasket packed under the spigot? I had one that was just as bad and here’s what I did..... obviously, you shouldn’t need to do this, but if you feel the urge:

1. Is the pipe sliding all the way down the “spigot” (the part bolted to the head)? If not, carefully cut that amount off the spigot so the pipe can move rearwards. It will never be seen.
2. If that’s not enough, use a ratchet strap to pull it back until the bolt slides in. Surprisingly, after a few heat cycles, the pipe maintains the shape.

Dramatic options. Use at your own peril!

P.S. the six Busso pipes on my Benelli SEI were much worse. I actually had to wrap them in leather (sample swatches from a furniture vendor, I rescued from their trash) and “work” them on a friend’s hydraulic pipe bender! Took two days and drove me nuts!
