Finished, here are some more pictures.

I used some stainless steel paint to cover up over the welds

You peeled back the outer cover over the inner special 'tuned header' tube which needs to be sealed inside.
They designed the inner exhaust header 'tube' to fit inside the outer chrome section(engineers designed that inner 'tube'/pipe for the exact flow to match the performance of the bike's needs)as the outer section protects the inner part from getting dinged(imo)and changing the flow of the exhaust.
I would peel back a little more of the outer section and seal the inside 'tube' before covering it all back over;otherwise the same acid exhaust water will rust through the inner header 'tube' and create a bigger rust hole all the way through.

Thank you. Honestly, idk what grade steel it is, just some scrap out of the bin, i'll post some more pics of the pieces.

Stuff you can get from home depot or ace hardware.

This frame support is collapsed a little, wonder how that happened?

I got the pipe hung back up on the motor, noticed the coils weren’t mounted correctly, and I cleaned the frame up with degreaser a little.

I called three painters and only got one call back, the most expensive one. So, I guess the other guys are busy but at least I know if my wallet hurts on this the paint job is gonna be top notch.

Im thinking this is going to encourage me to get the same color done for my daily 550.

should have paint back soon, im really nervous cause there arent any paint codes, and the body work i provided had paint that was too faded....what kinda gold am i gonna get back?

If the color is off too much and cant sell it i might have to sell my other 550 and keep this.

VMR has accurate paints, but candy is tricky. The more you apply, the more brilliant the color, which can outshine the original color.

I walked into this shop and gave them a boss maroon 550 tank to reference the decal. I told them the outer black line needs to either be very thin or not there at all, they said ok no problem. I picked up my tank and the first thing he says is "I know you said not to do this line wide, but we couldn't do it thin, hope its ok".

That was the most specific request i had for this paint job and they #$%*ed it  up. I cant find a single 500 tank with an outer fat black line, so this tank isn't correct.

Tell em to fix it.

If they can’t, get your money back.

There is no way they are a legit paint shop and can’t spray a 1/32 line.

Wow that's a lot of dough. That side panel alone is a disgrace.
Lesson is never use a sprayer without a proven track record. Many good new sprayers are actually trained by the existing shops.

im taking the weekend to relax a little and not feel so #$%*ed over. I will for sure ask the shop to see if we can remedy this....

im not interested in this cb500 color scheme with a 550 decal lol.

I Feel you on that !
They need to fix that and make it just like a factory color scheme  >:(
Did you show them a picture of what you were after when you brought the job to them ?

I hope you speak with the owner and present the problem to that person.

Vintage days mid Ohio is this weekend, maybe I’ll get lucky and find a kit to paint or score a deal.

It's not correct, but presentable. Could do with gong over the tank badges if you are looking to get shot of it.
