Is there a good reliable electronic ignition available for the CB550 that anyone can recommend to do away with the points etc?

DYNA III OR DYNA S.(magnetic trigger) Also the LUCAS/RITA, or MARTEK. (Optic triggered) The latter being "used only"

EUROSPARES in San Francisco imports the Rita syst. from the UK.

Both replace the factory type contact points.

I have the DYNA_S on mine and it has been great. I did spring for the coils and silicone wires too..
the whole thing is rock solid, it idles better and just feels stronger. NO maintenance

Talk to Jeff Saunders at Z1 Enterprises (Jeff.Saunders on here).

He has Dyna S at $120 which is a steal at the current exchange rate AND only $10 shipping. It'll be slow (the shipping not the bike) but if you are in no hurrey it seems the best way.

Check out his excellent feedback on the "Good Guys" forum

I have the same bike with a Dyna-S purchased from Z-1. No complaints at all!

if you are really cheap like me then see my "racing CB500" post, I can supply a dxf file for the points plate modification to bolt the GSXR pick up.
