I have been looking for a non-O-ring Diamond Powersports 428 x 110+ links standard drive chain for my Honda 185.
I used to be able to find them but lately the only ones available for less than $40 shipped are the Diamond 428'HD' chain in the red and black box which have heavier and thicker steel design link plates but it isn't as nice as the one in the white box, imo. The 'HD' style doesn't last as long as the Diamond Powersports drive chain in the white box and the other NOS ones in the red boxes with the small 'blued' sideplates.

Edit:The pics show the one I'm looking for with the lighter 'Powersports Strong' Diamond chain in the white box.
I saved the box the last time I replaced it;this chain will last a long time with proper care as the center rollers are manufactured with a much tighter tolerance fit inside the links.

I actually have been seeing some NOS #XMC-14528 Diamond chain in the old red and black box with the pic of the motorcycle on it on Ebay from a few sellers;these seem to be the better quality ones compared to he 'HD' which looks to be a Diamond industrial chain that's been repurposed for Powersports use.The 'HD/Heavy Duty' chain looks Heavy steel with wide spaces of clearance in the middle rollers, seems to me that's where dirt can work it's way between those rollers and cause premature wear.

Is that the one that went to CA and back?

:) Back in 2016' it went from W. Pa. to Ca. and back  :D
I did that to secure an apartment;then I put it across the front bumper of the car to come out here to reside in Mar. 2017..  :D   The bottom pic has the XR200R engine and front disc brake  ::)

I miss all the deep, wooded areas from back East sometimes.

When did you put that fancy seat and the 200 engine in it?

When did you put that fancy seat and the 200 engine in it?

The white is just a seat cover over the torn original seat;a local upholsterer on my same block made it using stretch cord in the hem to hold it in place.I like the white because it keeps the sun from cooking the foam underneath.
I just installed this 83' XR200R engine a couple months ago;the stock XR200R camshaft has been advanced a good bit but it's more tuned for the top-end kick on the dirtbike and not all-around progressive torque.
I'll be installing a new XL185 enduro stock camshaft(found a Made in Japan OEM reproduction from DSS)to give me more low-midrange torque and better fuel mileage tomorrow;I expect 85+mpg.

Have a look at these:

https://factorysupplyoutlet.com/diamond-chain-xmc-14867-120p/

thanks.
I'm seeing some XMC-14528 NOS Diamond drive chains on Ebay(seller i.d. 'sto-00')that doesn't have the HD designation:they're in the old red box with the pics of the motorcycle on them.I see a few listings with the chain out to view, they have a good 'low profile design' and the blue(hardened)tint to the small sideplates with large size connecting rollers.I will get a deal on one of those.

Good luck with the cam swap Bill.

the cam swap went well, plenty of midrange torque even after degreeing the cam retarded a few degrees for better top-end.

I'm happy to hear that, what other projects do you have in mind for that bike?

Also please post here after you've bought your chain, I'd like to buy the same one but don't want to bid against you or chance taking the last one.

Ok Alan ! I'm waiting on the woman seller to get back to me about shipping 2) chains for the same shipping price:combined shipping.I mentioned to her that it's USPS Priority Flat Rate? so hoping for the deal in shipping.

This Ebay place..  ::) they aren't always 'user friendly',generally speaking.
I just sold something and they're holding my payment until the item gets delivered  >:( I just got off the phone with 'City Hall' and they said that they consider me a 'new seller' because I haven't sold anything after Sept. 21' and will do this for the next 9 of the items I sell. They call this process 'Managed Payments'. I call it %*%#@$$.  :D

Lol  :D  it was certainly a 'Trip',to say the least  ::) :)
I had a 145cc bore kit in the 125 engine then and was able to maintain 60-65mph steadily while I was hunched-over with my CB400F handlebars for aerodynamic advantage.I had a sleeping bag on the rack and it was tough to beat the fuel mileage.

Alan, the sto-00 Ebay seller(Lisa)became stressed by my request to ask to combine shipping.. it must be part$ of why she gives a better price on the chain. I'll order my 'one' chain today.  :D
