Replacing the 100K mile forks on my K3. I bought new tubes and have a like new set of longer forklegs from a 78. This will prevent use of gaitors, so looking at fork ear options.

Has anyone used the 77/78K or 77/78F forkears on earlier models? I expect the distance between steering stem and upper triple clamp are the same between models?

I know the later (‘77&78) F and K are interchangeable. I inadvertently used an F set on my K8. Length is the same, but the headlight does sit a bit lower than my K7’s. Next time in the shop, I’ll measure the gap compared to K0-K6.

Interesting. By photos I thought the F headlight shell was higher with the horns mounted beneath. Camera angles change everything.

John would you also mind measuring c-c forktube to headlight mounting bolt please? Thanks for responding, I appreciate the help.

By the way I'm well pleased with the "VintageCB750" K3 fork tubes, but the ID of the captured washer in the tube bottom is larger than OEM. It makes for a sloppy fit over the damper rods. That will speed up fork rebound, but can be compensated by welding both rebound holes shut, plus slightly heavier fork oil. I'll be using emulators so I'll tune the suspension when I get it back together.
