Electrical issue, turn signals and lights mixed up
« on: April 19, 2022, 04:45:59 PM »
CB750 K5 worked fine before I changed the bars. Something is wrong in how I reconnected the wiring.

Turn signals work with headlight off, but the gauge lights and taillight flash with the turn signals.

When headlight is on the turn signals switch on for either side but stay solid. At a glance nothing appears amiss with the wiring, but I recall having this problem a few years back with this bike. I think it was a wire that was either the wrong color, or a very close color to another. Thoughts?

I figured it out. I connected a Brown/Blue from the left bar switch to a Brown in the main harness. I can't figure what the purpose of either of these wires is, but it looks like Brown is connected to the tail light. Not sure why they put that in the bucket or what the Brown/Blue is for (thought clearly it must be +12v when turn signals are lit)... Ah, maybe for the turn signal buzzer? I've never had a CB750 that still had it.

Good news is this wiring fiasco got me to notice a break a wire off my front brake pressure switch.
