1975 CB750 Super Sport - All finished!
« on: October 31, 2020, 03:00:38 PM »
Over the past two years I've been working on a custom CB750 for myself in between flipping other old Hondas to pay for the project. I finally finished it up today and I'm thrilled with how to came out so I thought I would share.

Engine:
wiseco 836 kit, 5 way valve job by Mike Rieck, cycleX high lift cam, lightened and balanced crank, clutch hub, race cut gears, wet sump conversion and a setrab oil cooler set up

I cut up a Hindle exhaust and modified it to fit around the wet sump

Carbs:
Period correct Mikuni VM29 smoothbores

Frame:
Rebuilt the sub frame myself for a different look and put on some YSS rear shocks and CBR1000rr front forks

All new electrics with a m.unit blue set up and keyless ignition

I made the seat pan and cowl / fenders myself then had everything custom painted and upholstered

Very nice. What headlight did you end up using and what jetting did you end up with on the VM's?

Thanks All! Runs amazing. I'll get some before pics posted

The headlight is a headlight from purpose built moto. I have all the specs and jet sizes written down somewhere, I'll get them for you.

I can tell you it started right up and doesnt require any tuning with an open exhaust and velocity stacks.

Great color. Very nice looking custom.
Does the wet sump conversion change the amount of oil on board? How about engine temperature?

With the engine wet, you poor about 2.8 liters of oil through a valve cover and that fills up the wet sump (it has a handy site glass), though after I added the oil cooler I had to poor about another half liter to see oil in the site glass again.

Oil pressure is good. When cold, it sits at about 50 PSI at idle. When fully warmed, pressure is at about 10 PSI at idle, going to about 70 PSI at 3000+ RPMS.

I was worried about engine temp because the exhaust pipes wrap around the wet sump, possible keeping it hot, so I added the oil cooler. No signs of overheating I havent hit it with a temp gun yet

Great job. Tell us about the wheels and suspension.

the front is stock 2006 CBR 1000 rr forks. 19" front wheel and a fat 18" rear (As fat of a rear tire as you can fit without adapters)

Beautiful Buchanan Sun rims and stainless spokes and continental tires

I moved the rear shock mounts toward the front of the bike a bit, so I have some longer bada** set of YSS rear shocks.

Before pic. Hard to tell from the picture but the sub frame is all twisted and bent out of shape from a previous reck - hence why I re-did the sub frame.

Let me know your thoughts!

Curious about the seat pan. How exactly did the upholster do it in terms of attaching the fabric and foam to the seat pan. Any pictures of the underside of the seat off the frame?

I'm trying to piece all my thoughts together on how exactly I can/should do my seat and cowl so I'm trying to gather ideas and inspiration from all over.
Thankful for everyone on this forum. Grateful to continue to learn so much.

looks aggressive and well thought out, congrats on the finish line. Color, cohesion, proportions, all look good, enjoy the positive reactions and sunshine...stay upright.

edit:
