speed sensor

my 1977 hondamatic wiring diagram shows a speed sensor in the speedo  as well as the one under the tank    but on the bike there is no sensor in the speedo   and other speedos i see are the same    i know the 1976  model had a different set up  and never had the big sensor under the tank   can any one shed an light on this   thanks

 Maybe it's the diagram for the Japanese domestic model?

Hi  its the official manual   but  maybe you are right  certainly no sensor in the USA  speedo
