My oldest granddaughter was in a 12-U softball tourney in Des Moines Ia. They won all 6 games, she pitched a shutout and had part of another one out of four total, only two teams even scored against them. I think one was 11-3 and the final was 11-5.
Her batting average was .883 with a walk, one or two fly balls and no strikeouts. One they will never forget. Almost all of her hits went to left field, before this tourney they had been mostly going to first base.

Win - Win  :)

Thanks guys, when they started playing softball there was one Dad that was a frustrated want to be coach. They made him be quiet. He picked up the team when they made the jump to an older league and got another coach to help out, they are doing a great job. I'm amazed at the progress these girls have made.
In the last game when our pitcher gave up 5 runs in the first inning, they stuck with her, talked to her between innings and then battled back to score 10 unanswered runs.

Well the weather was crap for the last couple of days so yesterday Spotty and I braved the cold and wet, and towed the blown up BMW over to his place.

BMW K100RS SE long weekend 9-10 June 2024 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

It took the rest of the day to remove all of the ancillary items to get to separating the engine from the frame, but one thing I did notice when I removed the airbox, was another perforation in the crankcase, made by the conrod that spat it's bolt thru the crankcase cover. Ooops........

BMW K100RS SE long weekend 9-10 June 2024 1 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Anyhoo, today we finally separated the engine and the gearbox from the frame, and separated the engine from gearbox which was surprisingly easy, apart from one recalcitrant bolt that didn't want to come off, and due to the end of the ball end hex key snapping off inside the bolt's head and not wanting to come out, I had to do a run to the hardware store to buy a decent cold chisel and a cool new vise grip tool.

BMW K100RS SE long weekend 9-10 June 2024 6 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

We were further surprised that the "new" engine and the gearbox mated up and we had the "new" engine bolted up pretty quickly.

BMW K100RS SE long weekend 9-10 June 2024 7 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

By this time it was mid afternoon and we were both knackered (remember when we could work on bikes all day and all night, then ride them to work the next day?) so we gave it the arse for the day, and we'll shove it back into the frame next weekend. I am happy that this engine doesn't have any custom ventilation and should (hopefully) be a good runner. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Glad it went well for you and Spotty...
I would say that was decent progress and gives you a good hold point.
You can mate things up to the frame, give it a test fire to ensure it is running well and shifting OK before bolting everything back together...back in place.

Paul and I put in a solid 4 hours when he comes up to the shop. ;)
Last Saturday I only managed to get in 3 1/2 hours of easy work after 3 daily 1 hour radiation treatments. I was tired just from installing the valve cover and adjusting the valves on the 74' CB 550 K0. Paul test rode the 81' GS 1100E and I adjusted the new clutch. He's going to relist it for sale.

Kelly….. hope you’re back on form. Feel better fast.

My neighbour was telling me about his “1 year old Costco lawnmower”. His wife drove over one of the wheels and shattered it. He went to Costco and they passed on the 1-800 manufacturer’s phone number. They gave him the run around so his solution was to buy a new mower!

Standard 1/2” axle shaft, so I ordered a pair of wheels that looked close. Amazon dropped them off next day. Had to slightly counterbore the recess for the locking nut. A drop of Loctite and it’s done. Oil level was barely on the stick, but it started first pull, on old gas. Spark plug is clean and dry! Cleaned the air filter, changed the oil, fresh gas and it runs sweetly. I should give him $100, but he’s so dumb I might not.

My +25 year old Craftsman (Poulan) mower can go in the Barn and take a break for a bit.

I'm in the waiting room now for treatment #5. On Friday I have a gold marker insertion appointment for the next 5 treatments of radiation. On July 1st I start the next 5 treatments. Then it will be time to get well enough to ride. 8)

My brother was giving me a mild lecture, he told me you aren't supposed to file your points, you are supposed to burnish them. I showed him the new, still in the package "points file" I just bought. Wonder why it doesn't say burnisher on the label?
I'm just glad he's still around to bug me. He's 83 and has had a couple of health challenges. He wants me to get his K2 tuned up and ready to ride.

I like what your brother said about points Don;which type of material does he say to use to 'burnish' them with ?

A burnishing tool obviously. I have a stiff piece of something that resembles hard scotchbrite I think that's what he is referring to. Then polish with a business card.

Cool, glad to hear that you are pushing ahead. 8)

We have the 81' Suzuki GS 1100E all sorted out and listed for sale. Next we need to put the carbs back on the 74' CB 550 K0. Once it's sorted out it will be listed for sale too. My share of both bikes is my Sportster fund. I've always wanted an XR style Sportster, I like a bike that corners well. If I don't get one soon it might be too late.8)
