No worries John, Merry Christmas to you and yours. It’s going to be 32 deg C (90 deg F) today and 100+ for the next couple of days so I’ll be spending more time inside than out. Crazy weather. ;D

Hang on to that weather! We’ll be there (Melbourne, Sydney and Cairns) in March! John D.

Every few years my union pension fund requires me to send in a witnessed signature that proves that yes, I am indeed still living. I took the form to the union meeting and asked a couple of my union brothers to sign for me. We had a good deal of fun with it, they asked for ID and wanted to check my pulse. During the meeting they monitored my consciousness, everyone congratulated me on making it to the mailbox.

That's probably a good thing Don, I'm not sure what they do here now, but a few years ago there were the notorious "Snowtown" murders one state over where a gang were murdering people on disability pensions and collecting their pension checks. I wouldn't be happy if I was murdered just so some scum bucket could spend my money. ;D

Nah, we definitely don't need lots of guns here in Oz Per, we've got enough problems without introducing more. We used to have lots of guns without any problems until some dickheads ruined it for everyone by committing several mass killings back in the 90's, so the government bought back all of the guns that were lying around and banned military style rifles, and we haven't had any mass killings since.

The "One Percenters" here do a roaring trade in selling guns stolen in the US and smuggled out to Oz, but apart from the various biker and middle eastern gangs taking pot shots at each other, there's hardly any gun crime worth talking about. Anyone here can buy guns (apart from military style weapons) as long as they have a license and a gun safe, but not that many folks here are really interested. That's a good thing, I reckon. ;D

I'm with you on that one Uncle Tez.
I'm not worried about the crim's running around so much as joe average killing himself or one of his family or friends.
Be it accident or design.

I believe most of us in the heat of a moment could shoot someone or ourselves if a gun was easy to hand at some stage in our lives. I conceded those moment's would be fleeting and extremely rare to us as individuals but across society as a whole they happen often. But at the top of the list, historic stat's tell us that plain dumb stupid accidents (can't take the human element out of "dumb and stupid" but you can take the gun element out) win hands down.

My opinion. Other than dyed in the wool gun nut's and some of the lunatic fringe I would like to think most of us are comfortable if not happy with Australia's gun laws these day's.

In a nearby village a retired police officer came up missing. His girlfriend had stuffed his dead body in a storage unit so she could keep cashing his pension checks. Cause of death - unknown but He was pretty decomposed and the neighbors to the storage unit were complaining.
I'd guess his family were happy-ish when she was put into the county jail.

I had a brain fart in the middle of the night when I remembered that I'd done 7 days Army Reserve service (worth 2300 beans, tax free) but had forgotten to actually put in my time sheets. As it's now 2023, and I'd done those days in November/December 2022, I thought that I might have "missed the bus" and wouldn't get paid? Well I woke up bright and early and submitted them anyway, and all good, I'm getting paid. Hmmnn, might have to get me one of them rotary welding positioners to celebrate! ;D

Good catch Terry!
Rotary positioner sounds great for building custom pipes & intakes, maybe handlebars too.

I'm about to snipe a little rotary table for my tiny milling machine from ebay, it might be handy for turning 530 or 525 sprockets into 520 sprockets for project bikes and will pay for itself the first time I use it.

Snipe successful!

Nice!   What size is it?

I got me a dividing head few years ago.  I don't use it often but it's great to have it when I need it.

We only had the red fox squirrels here until recently. Now the eastern gray squirrels are moving in with their black variant. When I was a kid the black squirrels lived near the river but not around here, no we have a rainbow of hybrids. Black ones, red fox, gray ones with white bellies and tufted ears, red with black tails, red with white bellies. The grays were smaller at first but they seem to be gaining in size, must be the hybrids. I'm told the grays will eventually take over. There are still Reds here anyway.
 Anyway, it's fun to watch.

Squirrel are fun to watch. They are very smart. Seen the mazes and puzzles the engineer who does the glitter bombs for package thieves has built for the squirrel to solve for a bounty of nuts. They are quite complex and he videos them in their efforts to solve the mazes going through various puzzles to advance to the next puzzle.

Good job mate, I bought a rotary table for my Mill/drill many years ago and used it for drilling CB750 discs, and it works great. The rotating positioner is on Vevor for $324.99 AUD, only a 10Kg one, but good enough for what I’ll be doing. I just saw a FB ad for a wood chipper, so I’m off to buy it as another big branch has fallen on my roof. ;D

Thanks Prokop & Terry it's just an 80mm table from Central Machinery (Harbor Freight) made in India.
I paid just over $46 shipped.
I found dozens of YouTube videos on projects for these, including dividing plates.

Yep, you can even make your own sprockets Al. I picked up the wood chipper/mulcher, the guy started it from cold (ran on the first pull) and gave me a "soldiers five" on how to operate it, safety precautions, keeping the mulch chute clear, etc etc, so I was happy and handed over the cash without trying to barter, as far as I was concerned, it was cheap.

I arrived home and saw that the welding trolley that I bought on Amazon had been delivered, so I spent the afternoon assembling the new welder. I realised that I needed a 15/10A adapter for the plug and couldn't be bothered driving over to the hardware store to buy it, so opened a beer instead. All in all, not a bad day. ;D

I'm happy to make it back home after getting an MRI, a bone scan and my cancer shot all in one day. I had to drink some kind of vanilla smoothie dye stuff this time. It wasn't as bad as the last time but that's not saying much.
