Well, I haven't been very active on the site of late as I have been busy restoring a 79 GS750. It's now finished but currently broken with a bad stator (a well known GS750 problem).
However, I have been "keeping the faith" by moving on to restoring a 72 CB500 and have just finished painting it. This is my first effort with a spray gun (done a few with spray cans) and I'm calling this a win. Not perfect but pretty nice though.
It's not "candy jade green" but a Jeep colour (color) called "rescue metallic green". Someone on this site recommended it as it's very close to the Honda original.

Really only just waiting on some chrome work to be finished and then reassemble the front end and brakes.

Looks great mate, I’ve seen guys pay big money for professional jobs that didn’t look as good. Welcome back! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Well it’s been hot again today but apart from washing the little Suzuki and taking it for a lap around the block, I sneaked out around 5 pm and removed the DT250 coil which was pretty rusty so cleaned the rust off the mounting point and cleaned the frame too, then made up a ground wire from the coil to the battery’s negative terminal and another one from the engine to the same point. It was too late to start the bike up when I’d finished putting it back together so tomorrow I’ll give it a kick in the guts and see if it made any improvement. If not, I’ll wait for the new coil. ;D

Yes, it is modular.

Few years back I bought full face Shoei in local store - it was cheaper because it was a display model.  I was very impressed how quiet and comfy was the helmet and pinlock was a complete game changer, too  - so when the time came to replace my old and cheap flip up I went for the same brand.

Easy to choose a helmet brand you know fits your head.

Nice “Lid”. I love my “Flip front” Shark (French) helmet, it’s handy when you have to stop to grab a drink or take a pic etc, without having to remove your helmet. On a long ride in hot weather I like to flip mine up when slowing down to go through towns etc, to get a bit of air circulating around my face. It’s also much easier to put my glasses on, or adjust them while on the move.

We have a long weekend and it’s going to be stinking hot so not sure if I’ll go for a ride. The new ignition coil for my DT250 just got delivered so I’ll install it today and if the bike is finally running properly I’ll take it to the shop to get the Roadworthy Certificate, so I can get the cheap club permit (red plate) so I can legally ride it on the road. If it still runs bad I need to tear into the wiring harness and check that a particular wire hasn’t busted, which apparently is common on this model. I hate messing around with ancient electrics, so hopefully the new coil will fix it. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I installed the new coil on the "Dirty 250" and sadly, it didn't run much better. I pulled the carb, removed the new main and idle jets I installed the other day and installed the originals, along with the original floats. I fired it up and it ran perfectly, so I reinstalled the airbox snorkel and air filter, and took it for a ride. For the first time, it ran great, and I took it for a couple of miles, without issue. I rang Jeff at Ace and booked it in for it's Roadworthy inspection tomorrow. All going well, I'll have my "Club Plate" (cheap registration) in a couple of weeks. Happy days. ;D

Exactly my reasons, Terry.   But I told my wife that I just wanted to be able to kiss her without taking the helmet off.   :)

Flip-up is perfect for me. No need to take off glasses during on-off.
Get fresh air when refueling hot days too.

Have 2 Schuberth C3 Pro.
Good for box headed persons.
It sit fine without gliding up in higher speeds sitting up.

My old not much used Shoei Sarron replica from 1989-90 was made for sport bikes leaning forward. After 140kmh it moved up.

Schuberth has another helmet to replace C3 Pro, C5.

My second (matte bronze) is not much used so I have for a decade or more.
My favourite blue/white match my K6 colorwise and my head loves it.
Often seen on food pics in the Frank riding thread ;D

I rode the “Dirty 250” over to Ace Motorcycles to get a Roadworthy Certificate Inspection done this morning. 35 deg c (95 degF) even with my ventilated jacket boots, gloves and helmet was horrible. I chatted to a guy with a 1980 Ducati 900SS who was getting a Roadworthy Certificate. Nice guy, offered me a ride on it, but if I dropped it I couldn’t afford to fix it, so had to decline.

Got my certificate then rode over to Spotty’s place to give him a hand to collect a bike one of his mates had given him, using the beautiful trailer that we fixed up recently, dropped it off at his place, then rode the Yam home. Not going anywhere today, too damn hot. Happy to have it one step closer to street legal again. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

Nice job buddy 😎

Today I got distracted, the boy broke the handle off the small axe. After I put a new handle on the axe I remembered that I have a 100yo H H Co hatchet head so I cut down the old axe handle and fitted it to the hatchet head. It took about 4 hours to get it cut down and fitted to the hatchet head. Now the handle is done with 2 coats of polyurethane clear and I have to paint the head satin black like old tools.
It will be going back into service making kindling.
