I find it ironic that no one had posted in this thread for 6 months. Not trying to discuss it, just noticing.

I miss hearing the good reports  :)

I just looked at the weather forecast which shows thunderstorms tomorrow morning when I'm scheduled to be on a ladder outdoors.

Nope, not happening, not sorry!   ;D

My daughter Sinead contacted yesterday and said she wanted to go for a ride. We hadn't heard from her for 2 1/2 years. She has severe mental health issues, and it's honestly a miracle she's still alive. We met up and (eventually) went for a short ride. I'm hoping it becomes a regular occurrence...  and yes, I did shed a tear or two!

Slow thread, nobody's logging any wins?

Morbid but whatever, my ex had a cancer scare this year, she seems to be coming out of that, but her present husband had a stroke last Friday, 47 years old I think, not a high quality human. Total radio silence from the ex.

I had a pair of video interviews for a job about a month ago, then a building tour. Then nothing.
This morning I got a call with a good offer and no on-call, no nights, no weekends... I'm still in shock because I did this same job in the 80s for $6/hr.

The Heat is letting-off a bit now;the last few weeks of August here have been brutal.
The nights are cooler most of the time this year, which is a huge plus.

Lowered, shortened fender, rode it, no rubbing.

They sent over an offer and I accepted, they'll verify references and run a background check next.

This week I found the wire that a mouse damaged in my old Volvo C30. It’s one of two, connected to the brake fluid level sensor and was sending a message that lit up the “message centre” and a huge, yellow, flashing exclamation mark on the dash!

Buried behind a foolishly complicated battery box it only needed a drop of solder and some shrink wrap to repair (and the moves of a real contortionist). Cost me nothing, and kept me smiling for the rest of the week!

If I remember correctly Volvo used a plant based insulation that rats and mice think is food value.

From personal experience..I found that rodents..rats..mice etc..will compulsively chew on anything.  They need to keep their teeth worn down by chewing on stuff all the time [or they will grow right through the roof of their mouth..really!]  Another reason seems to be that they chew on stuff like wiring insulation in looms like in the pic..to gather material to make their nests.

We live in a rural residential area and the rodents around here are continual pests that come in to the house..shop or get up into the engine compartment of autos and chew on the wiring like in pics..if left outdoors for any period of time.  Indoor garages are almost a necessity around here LOL

I haven't used rodent repellents much..but assume that may keep the rodent chewing thing better under control (?)

Al…. I stored the Volvo in our +125 year old barn, last winter. The “mouse house” buried in behind the battery box was the result. It will go back in the garage this winter!

Tomato production day at home. Family crew turned 5 bushels of tomatoes into 136 quarts ready for spaghetti, chili, Skyline….. The jars will all be empty well before this time next year.
And the trusty slide-in Hotpoint stove. 60 yrs old, 3 burners keeping 15 gallons of water boiling all day
long. When it was causing trouble 10+ years ago I asked my bride to find a suitable replacement. She found
that a new stove = new kitchen, and I found myself replacing all of the element wiring, the main, repairs in the control panel, several elements. It has survived many tomato days, Thanksgivings, Christmases, Easter’s….

The car club I helped found in 1980 made two $1000 scholarships, so I wrote those checks this morning. We've also donated $500 to an older folks' group, $500 to our local VFW, sponsored three holes at charity golf outings.
The cruises we put on can be a pain but over the years we've helped the community a little. That gives me a slightly warm fuzzy feeling.

I was hired today, gave 2 weeks notice to my present employer. I have 5 approved days off to take. No more nights and weekends, no more on-call hours 6am-midnight, just a 70 mile round trip commute and a mere 40 hours per week for slightly better money.

I'm free!
