Cam chain adjustment
« on: May 05, 2022, 04:43:02 PM »
Maybe an old thread  but  maybe of interest  the manual says run the engine at idle and loosen off the lock nut and bolt  and the chain will self adjust    but i found that this method is not the best way to go   all it did was make chain the go loose  better to go TDC on no.1 cyl and undo the bolt and you will hear the tensioner tighten   just my experience but maybe help for others

My Users manual I got with my bike say same thing. CB750K6. Manual cover earlier too.
Follow that will make it worse.
I released the bolt, put a small screwdriver into the rear hole. Kicked the engine and felt how tensioner moved inside. Tightened bolt when it was in the inner position.

I have after that read updaten manual that beskrive 15* ATDC as the position where losen and tighten the adj. bolt.

Visible where the spring tower side is lining up with case mark.
Like here. Photo not that good.
Do not rotate crank by a wrench on that big nut with spark plugs in. No plugs and backwards not good either.

Kickstarter works or roll bike backward with gear in when reverse is needed.
