1973 CB350F Flasher Problem
« on: May 11, 2022, 07:27:52 AM »
So I bought a 1973 CB350F recently... I have had several in the past that I have fixed and sold; but this one has an interesting problem.  Everything works as it should on this bike ; but the flasher unit was bad.  When I replaced it with a new (round) one it will flash two times and then blows a the fuse.

I tried it several times with the same results.... an suggestions as to where to look for a possible short?

Thanks in advance.

I would have a look inside each signal light for rust or corrosion first.

Or it could be wires not plugged in to correct location/colors.

Are the correct bulbs installed? Correct fuse installed? Probably not a dead short since fuse doesn't blow instantly.

Assuming it's a 3 terminal fuse, try unplugging the green wire. There are several types of 3 terminal ones, and some don't use the ground - they send flashing power to the third terminal (without current sensing to activate the "burned out bulb" fast flash rate) to power a dash indicator or trailer lights. That causes pretty much what you have, one or two flashes before the short pops the fuse.

Sounds like you meant to say 3 terminal flasher not 3 terminal fuse??
