Just figured that I would follow up with all of those whom offered me so very much knowledge (thanks).the bike is now running, I do probably have to replace the starter motor as I can hear the click but it will not turn over unless I kick it. But, the important thing is that after all those years of sitting... it now is back where it belongs, basking in the rays on some beautiful open road.
