Touch up paint
« on: May 26, 2022, 04:28:02 PM »
Good day y'all

My bike was recently painted by some pros over 6hours away from me to original red, before I bought it.

Since I've scratched one side and want to know what to do, top coat it, try to touch up paint? ( Im scared of it rusting if I don't fix it quick)

I've called the shop who did the work originally, waiting to hear back from them.

What experience do you guys have? No current pics of the damage

Hard to give a suggestion with a photo of the damage but I believe most, if not all, Honda colors are available on line in a rattle can.

If you had a way to spray it, a local paint store should be able to scan it and mix a color, most can even stick it in a rattle can.

If you don’t feel your up to the job, take it back or mail it to the people who did the original work and pay up haha. Probably won’t be cheap.

Yeah, I think I've seen people spray paint in the cap, then paint the area with a small brush. Should be pretty simple

I used nail enamel on my blue K6 with small paint damage. A tool or a stone had made a few mm paint chip.

I had earlier found a nail enamel when shopping with my wife so she could match her nails to my bike.

Rather close in color, good enough for a few mm chips. It seals the paint. Bike has Sapphire Blue candy paint.

If that scratch doesn't penetrate the base coat (it looks like a base clear paint job) then you can just get some clear touchup paint and then buff it down after a week or two of drying. If it goes to the primer or base metal, you need some color and clear touchup.

Any chance they guys who painted it might mix you up a touchup bottle? I always have whoever paints my bikes, cars, etc fill a small bottle from the mix and that way I have a touchup paint the exact same as the paint job. It's worth at least calling and asking.

Other than that, you're going to have to try and match it to an already existing touch up paint, which never works out well. You can usually get close, but not exact.
