Another option for cleaning out the inside of a tank
« on: April 16, 2007, 03:59:23 PM »
I checked with some local buinesses and today found a plating company that will dip motorcycle tanks in acid to strip out the inside rust. I'd been comparing radiator shop prices for vatting prices when I dropped by the place.

When asked how much he would charge to do it, the guy said he wouldn't even charge me (wow!). I told him I have a couple tanks and I will be definitely be giving him return business, so if he gives me a decent price per tank I am happy.

I'll report back with results. BTW, if anyone lives in the Garland or Rockwall (Texas) area, pm me and I'll give you contact info.

Make sure to take before and after photos on the inside and share your results!
