how do i undo clutch lock nut?
« on: December 14, 2011, 11:46:34 AM »
bike is a cb400, engine is out of the frame, so clutch is just spinning the transmission, no chain/wheel to stop it.

tried it with a impact driver (hammer type), no luck. any suggestions? dont want to have to put engine back in the frame and refit the chain just to undo the nut!

help..

you might try and wedge some rag in the primary gears.

Grab the counteshaft with some vice grips and let them turn into the cases, maybe.

Friendly tip: Just an opportunity to remind folks, remove/loosen that nut and the rotor bolt etc, while the engine is still in the frame.

Thanks for the suggestion, in the end used vice grips on the output shaft and it came undone easily :)
