Template for Emblems on Side Panels
« on: June 29, 2022, 10:18:35 AM »
Hey all,

I’m not sure if posted somewhere in the past, please send the link.

Is there a template for drilling holes into reproduction side panels for the CB550 emblems to match OEM placement?  Size bit?  I have the panels and emblems.  Want to measure twice and drill once.

i would get an oem with holes, set it on top, send a pin through the holes for marks, and drill.

I've seen some with dimples on the back side where the holes go.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I went for it and eye-balled placement.  I used some painters tape where I thought they should go and used the emblem pins to mark holes.  Drilled them out.  Actually looks really good.  Spent the day yesterday applying about 10 coats of black and clear coat using rattle cans.  When it dries and cures I’ll take pics.  The shops in the area wanted $300+ to paint them.  Come on, they are 12x9” plastic panels.  Hard to support local when everything is gouged now.

Not bad if I say so myself.  $200 in parts and paint.  They aren’t perfect but I saved $300.  That will go right back into the bike!
