Stock CB750 Oil Tank Lines
« on: December 30, 2013, 09:01:27 AM »
I was surprised to see that Honda no longer carries the standard oil lines that lead from the oil tank to the engine and back as available stock parts. Is there a non-OEM source for these lines?

CMS in the Netherlands has a single one left at the usual "discount" price that we are used to from them: http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750k7-four-usa_model14395/hose-compb-oil_15520392020/

Why don't you buy good used ones. They rarely fail, most people just change them for the hell of it. Mine are original k6 lines, they were faded so I spray painted the outside black to make them look less crappy

You can even rebuild them, the oil pressure is very low.

I found a local industrial hose/hydraulic place to crimp on new hoses for me.

They had a fabric covered hose that looked about right.  It was a little pricey - I think I paid $50 or $60 each, but I think they look pretty good.  The crimps don't look exactly like the OEM's but they were able to reuse the old hose fittings and I think it looks better than putting hose clamps on there.

If you're not worried about looks, 70CB750 is right, the pressure is very low so some automotive hose and hose clamps will work fine.

+1 on the industrial hose shop.  I use a local shop, http://www.wofsco.com/, they made me these stainless lines for $38.  Just bring in your old lines.

Hmmm... your's look better than mine, and you paid less!  :)

Do you have any specifics on the hose (brand, size, etc.)?  I think I want to try SS on my next set.

Thanks,
Chris

No specifics, but they work great.  I am running these on my 915, 836 and for this current build.  brandEn found the place and we have been using them ever since with excellent results.

Tweakin, the work on your lines is exactly what I'm looking for, but the link you sent won't work for me.

Got a phone number for them?

That's interesting... I went to the Fastenal near me and they said they couldn't rebuild my hoses.  They recommended a shop around the corner (Nyco corporation) who ended up doing mine.

I was really surprised the guy I talked to at fastenal said he couldn't replace the hoses.  He said he had no way of crimping new hoses on my existing connections.  He was a nice guy and wasn't in a rush or anything... I think he honestly didn't know how to replace hoses on existing connections.  He showed me the connections they were used to dealing with and they all had the metal crimp part already attached to connector.  I think their business was just new hoses with new, industry standard, fittings.

Same experience with NAPA, big sign we make hoses but apparently only standard sizes and he would not accept the responsibility for my hoses.

I realize this particular thread is pretty ancient, But I figured I'd start here, before I open a new one...

Dose anyone here have info on Dissembling the fitting ends of the stock oil lines?
I've found that most of it is pretty basic, with carefully cutting the crimp collars in half. But now I would like to remove the threaded nut end, from the line with the kink, so I can have them replated.  I'm seeing a little drill hole in the side of the nut, with what looks to be some sort of bent pin or rod? (see reference photo in link) I suspect that holds the nut in place, but have no idea how to remove it without damaging the nut itself?

I was going to send him a set to do, but didn't get a reply regarding the nuts being replated or not. Sounded like he was pretty busy, so decided to have them done at a local hydraulic shop, but want to deal with the plating first.
