rear rim offset / position
« on: March 15, 2007, 09:37:57 AM »
hello all

got into a bit of confusion regarding the rim position in the new rear wheel I am building for my racer

would appreciate if somebody armed with a caliper could do a quick check on his CB500/550 and tell me the A & B dimensions (gaps between rim and swingarm ) and if the rim is indeed 70 mm wide measured form the outside

Grazie mille!

My measurments come up with 68mm swingarm to rim (chain side) 70mm wide rim, and 60mm rim to swingarm on right (brake) side.

Hope that helps.

rim should be laced in the centre of the hub or NO offset in relation to the hub

I agree.  Was told there is no offset for the Honda rims.  Before taking measurements, are you sure your rear wheel is tracking properly and not at an angle?  It's not easy to check, but something you should look into.  I relaced the rear wheel on my bike, and have no offset.
