CB500 carburetors o-rings question ?
« on: July 07, 2022, 06:08:02 PM »
Hello, my name is Renato, I'm from Brazil and I have a question about the carburetors kit for my CB500 '73, more specifically, the smallers 3 o-rings that are included in each carburetor as shown on picture above:

Please could someone help me on this question?
Thanks

So, what is your question about these three smaller orings? The location of these on the carburetor?

You do know it is highly recommended that you do not use the brass parts from these carburetor kits as their sizes are wrong and will cause lots of issues. Genuine Keihin brand brass or Jets-R-Us brass should be the only brass parts used. The after market brass parts have the wrong taper on the needles and are sized incorrectly.
Generally the brass parts do not wear a d if you clean them spotlessly they are good for reuse.

The biggest is for the float bowl
Inlet valve seat (no. 1 in the pic)
Main jet (smallest) It should seal well. Don't twist it, just press the main jet in.
Drain screw (the thicker one, no. 2 in the pic)
Inlet fuel T-joint x 4. This fuel supply T-joint needs two on either side* but... when they're not leaking, leave them alone! My T-joint O-rings are still OK after 46 years and they have been treated roughly. It will save you the trouble of separating the carbs. Honda did really well to fit two on either side.
* So, when you've bought 4 sets, you will have a surplus of 8 you won't need.
