Which colour do you reckon?
« on: March 06, 2007, 12:10:32 PM »
OK, I've painted the comstars with grey spokes and polished rims (or they will be when I've done the polishing). I'm going for an orange tank/sidepanels/tail. Plus I've got a Rickman half-fairing which may or may not find its way onto the bike.

The only logo will be the Honda wing as used on current models, in the same shade of grey as the wheels.

What do you reckon works best - the sweet wrapper or the tennis racket. Both are shown against the speedo drive hub, which is the same colour as the wheel spokes. Difficult to gauge what the tennis racket would be like in a gloss. What do you reckon?

The "sweet" wrapper looks more of a vintage color

tennis racket is more of a "modern looking" -  the value (darkness/lightness) may be too similar with the gray -  won't have as much contrast as the sweet wrapper.

I just bought some House of Kolor candy orange that I love... will show pics when finished

Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

I vote for the tennis racket. Looks like wet paint.

my vote is for the Tennis racket

sometimes you don't want a true contrasting color say as blue-yellow, or red-green on a bike and i think the Tennis Racket is just dark enough to contrast, but not annoy whoever looks at it

The condom wrapper does look more vintage.  How long has it been in your wallet?  Just kidding!  The 'candy wrapper'  ;) does look more vintage, but I think I like the tennis racket better too.

Mod tennis raquet colour would tie in with the modern wing if that's what you're after.

Hi zoomer, not really after a modern look, more the fact that the current wing logo it's quite simple. That's why I'm not having any other graphics or decals - I might even leave the tank one off altogether, but if I do use something I thought the current wing said it all. I like things very simple, basic almost. I hate lots of dials, buttons, graphics etc. whether it's a car, radio or whatever.

I'm with greenjeans - I think the wrapper is more vintage looking and therefore probably more what you are after. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Good luck.

I vote for the tennis racket color. I like the more natural earth tones of the "copper" color of the racket. And it will go better with the silver tones as well as black... Think about a natural brown cow hide seat with this color???

Damn, now I've confused myself. Watching British Superbikes yesterday the Cream/Burgundy scheme of Vivaldi Racing is very cool. Quite vintage or retro I thought. I better paint the goddamn thing before I get more ideas... The photo doesn't quite do the cream justice, it looks a bit too white in the pic. The leathers are more like it actually

Pae,

This is my personal take on the whole color thing... Do what you like. There seems to be a lot of opinions, insights, suggestions, and other input in a personal decision. It will be your motorcycle so make it a true reflection of you. I have had my paint color picked out for about 6 months now, and everyone that I tell will provide me with at lease 10 minutes of the whys and do nots. And it all comes down to the fact that everyone is providing what color they would paint my bike.

Stick with your inner vision and go with it... And I think you will be happy in the end...

Yes, I agree. I'm interested in what others think, but will eventually choose what I like, not what gets the most votes. Just curious about what others thought, really.

As you can see I'm still not sure which way to go... that cream/burgundy does look good tghough, and a bit different.

regards, Phil

I originally wanted to paint my bike another color, but I've decided to keep it stock.  I just ordered the decal kit and will be taking the tank and side covers to the painter as soon as the decal kit comes in.
