If fuel is coming out where it attached to the petcock, the line there is probably loose.

Unless it’s leaking at the actual posts of the petcock. That can happen if they come loose.

I was thinking the posts but I didn't see it seep there first, one of the lines was hard and cracked at the end so I cut it and put it back on, it still did it. Then i replaced that hard line with a new soft one and it still happened....i saw bubbles first at the top of the hose. Im going to go through the carbs one more time i guess Ill order a rebuild kit for these things.

edit:
totally forgot to mention I put my black tank on there and the fuel did the same thing, so its def the carbs.

Even if the carbs didn’t flow, you shouldn’t have leaking at your petcock.

Line should be able to hold the pressure of fuel when the petcock is open and the float needles are closed.

Maybe you got a few things goin on

after finding out that my PO forgot to sign in one place he wanted me to mail it back to him in KY and he would send it back. my stomache was flipping out when I heard that! I told him I would be in the area and if I could just come by. luckily he said sure.

OE fiber washers work best on petcock-tank 6mm mounting screws. I don’t know why, but I learned the hard way, and have read others similar experiences here.

Officially the owner of this late model K1, titled in my name. I offered the PO $100 bucks to meet me at sos office, paid his $65 in fees and then my $110 in fees -  so im all in $1,775.00 for the bike before parts or repair. Also got to keep the original one owner title for documentation purposes. PO also allowed me to come back and get the blown up picture of Winton's bike when he was riding it back in the day which ill provide below. He confirmed Winton passed away recently due to covid, PO was originally going to get the bike back in running condition but decided not to. CONFIRMED the shocks were thought up because he had gained weight and wanted to be able to still ride two up with his wife...I guess he still intended on finishing it and riding it again, looks like he rode it no turn signals in the picture.

RIP Winton.

Been sitting here thinking about how this k1 was being ridden, accumulated 15k miles and was a two up rider chariot back in the day. It has everything I was hoping to install on my black touring bike like a bored out motor (not confirmed), triple disc brakes, correct ratio tires (i need less of a quick steering front end for tour), kinda thinking about putting stockish height bars back on and making this my touring bike....I would then take the black bike to pre front fairing and top box form...which was its best.

I would use these bars pictured below on this 550 roller.

Edit: tall bars on, chrome levers on.

why do i have a gap between the stock switch position and the rubber grip on the turn signal side? I usually remove the set pin and move the switch housing over, but why the gap to begin with?

I have a gap of ca 3 mm on my CB750 K2.
Low Eurobar, wiring thru it. Pins locate the switches on the bar.
I saw Yamiya or maybe somewhere else where they sold a rubber washer to fill out.
I have had thoughts to cut the handle bar a little on each side. The throttle side has a small gap too.

i see what you're talking about, ill just cut a piece of foam to fit the gap.

edit: the 74" 550 had a much chunkier switch housing that would eaten up most of that gap i imagine.

i took those 4into1 throttle cables off the switch housing and the metal "L" shaped portion broke lol. Brand new cables lol. They literally use the #$%*ing cheapest metal there is. Gonna just get good and making my own cables from here on out.

edit:

nevrmind, its not broken it threads together actually...weird.

edit: got new fuel lines on the carbs to the petcock, no more leaking at the petcock, number one float was sticking though and it was overflowing. I forgot i put the higher bars on and don have throttle cables for it yet.

thank you to Wolf for being on top of ebay listings, the gold body kit is now complete. I know i said i was going to get a set of  yamiya gold and brown covers but new gold paint against the patina gold tank would have bothered me. The brown k1 tank has zero sun fade so a new set of brown covers from yamiya should work just fine.

I also came to the conclusion that the fork ears and head light bucket were repainted the brown used for the fiberglass kit, the holes for reflectors were filled in and the brown is slightly darker and less candy...i may get forks ears and bucket from yamiya as well.

It looks great.

The cover still has some deep burnt orange around the edges but overall has a very nice sun bleaching going on...the paleness sort of matches the gas tank lid neck and the dullness, or lack of clear sorta matches the left fork ear. Once this cover gets a layer of clear coat it will pop. I need to pull the seat off and and re work the foam and reset the cover.

edit: Pulled the donor seat off and installed the original seat and already have the donor seat taken apart...i had too much foam in there. I think i will just get a replacement foam insert for this if cannot get it looking good.

Edit: added pics of oem seat

scored this pair of oem brackets with signals for 40 bucks on ebay, 4into1 wants 36 bucks for one re-pop bracket and turn signal and based on the picture i'm not even sure if it comes with rubbers. Still need one of those small grab bars but oem used ones sell for around 40 bucks while re pop sells for around the same....I'll see if i can stumble upon one for cheap...i want one on each side.

I decided to steal the trim off of the brown tank since its already starting to yellow, the tank badges are staying on because they are in perfect condition and hug the tank perfectly so ill purchase new ones for the gold tank. Thinking about buying some more parts from that ebay seller as they are parting out almost an entire k1 for pretty ok prices.

edit: the signals on the headlight look to have been sandblasted or stripped at some point so ill replace those housing with better chrome.

should have the wire sets at the shop, haven't been there in weeks. Im so happy i waited for a good used set for these parts, getting all the spacers and rubbers are a huge bonus.

I have not ridden this bike yet, I’ve only heard it run very poorly so far and still haven’t put wheels back on it yet.

I did manage to complete the remaining list of small things needed minus the side cover emblem and medallion. Sourced tank badges off a 550 tank i forgot about, purchased two single grab handles locally for $30 each, a k1 chain guard that has been painted to look like carbon fiber or it’s hydro dipped for $100. The guy had a shoei fairing just like mine undamaged so I took that off his hands for my black bike since mine is cracked. The last thing I needed was a small orange reflector for the right side fork ear which I also found in a box at the shop, so it’s just carbs, exhaust, and tires remaining here- fire up and tune up…..gonna change the oil too before I fire again. All the superficial stuff getting done is exciting.

Should i install the proper, longer front turn signal stems or keep the signals tight to the bucket?
