Congrats on another revival Terry & Spotty.

Thanks Alan, it'd be great if they were all as easy as this one, I'm planning on going for a ride with my son, his Royal Enfield GT650 and me on the KZ750 to do a "head to head" comparison. I think the Kawasaki has a bit more poke, but of course the brakes, suspension and handling won't be up to the same level as his GT. I'd better think about putting a pair of new Stinko's on it, the tyres are at least 10 years old, and probably much older than that. The bike's only done 13000 miles from new, so probably on it's second set of tyres, so could be 40 years old, or more..... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

Yes, correct. Thank you!

I think they made a few changes in the engine(larger oil pump,etc.)starting in the K3's..
I noticed the alternator cover and thought, 'it's either a K3, or a K4'/K5.
Does your model have the fork springs inside the forks w/ the pinch bolt top triple ?

Nope, external springs. The fork change started with the K4.
They also changed the side cover design in '72 to accommodate the exhaust.

I fired up my CL350K3 yesterday for the first since rebuilding the top end, carbs, etc, etc.
First time it's run since I brought it home in 2016.
It sounded pretty good too for having just slapped in the old points plate and guesstimating the timing.
No carb leaks, top end sounded good, all-in-all a successful test fire.
Now for the finishing touches.

Last couple of days, pulled the CB1100F motor, spent many hours cleaning and polishing. Now the trick is to paint the the parts that need it getting the right sheen or degree of shininess. Gloss black is a bit too much, satin is not enough I think. I have polished the original finish on the clutch cover so it's the  standard. I like the kind of glossy finish.

Looks pretty good Cliff, crazy thing is the motors aren't weighing much more (and sometimes less) than the cb750 lump. But getting them in and out doesn't get any easier with our passing age unless we attack the problem with tools and devices that make it easier...

It's easier with the 1100F as the lower right part of the frame detaches.A bit wiggling and the motor comes out.

Cliff…… Looking good! The removable frame piece reminds me of the GL1000. One day I’m going to do that to the right side of a SOHC cb750 frame.

Spotty and I went to Australia's biggest swap meet yesterday and we managed to walk 11.4 Km (a tad over 7 miles) in 91 deg F temps. We left home at 4.30 and arrived around 6am. Spotty scored the bargain of the year with a Dunstall tank and seat for a CB750 for only 50 bucks, and I picked up a couple of little things, but brought some parts a guy had asked me to bring and sold them in the carpark for 200 bucks, so came home with more money that I brought. We were out of there just after 11am, and had lunch at a gas station on the way home. Gas station food here used to be awful, but the food was quite nice, and a cold drink really went down well.

Today I took the wheels with new Stinko 712's for the KZ750 over to Spotty's place and we installed them. Yay! Not much else to do to it now to pass the Roadworthy Inspection, so even though I managed to put my back out and couldn't stand up straight, fired it up (starts instantly) and rode it back to my place just as the rain started. Only a 10 minute ride, but the bike ran great, and the more I ride it, the more I like it. Still raining outside, so no more rides today, but I should have my historic club permit for it just in time for my Christmas holidays, and it'll get a workout then. Lovely bike, might have to keep it......... ;D

From memory they looked really good Bill, but I’ll do a plug chop on my first decent ride. It starts right away and can be taken off the choke almost right away so I think the “non adjustable” carbs (no mixture screws or ability to raise or lower needles) are about spot on. ;D

What's the redline on it ?

Looking at the video I took, it appears to be just a tad under 8K RPM Bill, so pretty high for an old twin. DOHC and balance shafts probably help. Bore and stroke is 82mm x 82mm. Not overly long stroke, my XLH1200 has a 96mm stroke, and redlines at around 6500 RPM, from memory. ;D

Yeah mate, as I get older I’m enjoying finding complete original bikes that haven’t been messed with. And considering that this one was given to me, well that’s great. So far I’ve only put a battery and tyres, a cheap front brake MC on it, an oil and filter change and the new Stinko’s, so by the time I get it inspected and my historic plate it’ll only have cost me around a grand. ($670 USD)

Probably my cheapest bike so far. ;D
